It was a great way to backpack and see Iceland. We stocked up from their free food supply to help cut costs along the way. The heater worked well and the bed was comfortable. The staff was very helpful. My only complaint is we got a flat tire and had to foot the bill ourselves when we returned( our vehicle thankfully came with a spare so we were able to change it). I think for the price you pay on these vehicles and the conditions of Iceland's roads in the north they should have covered this expenditure.
Brilliant experience enhanced by service provided by Happy Campers, who were able to extend our hire period during our hire. Thank you. We found the Renault Traffic based camper very comfortable for two and easy to handle whilst driving.
Honestly one of the greatest decisions my wife and I made was to trek around the whole of Iceland in a camper. And that was made so much easier by HappyCampers. Literally the second we landed in Keflavik we were looked after and giving everything we needed to look after ourselves for the week. Everyone is so friendly there and the process is so easy. The Camper was amazing and so comfortable. Really worth it if you want to go beyond the normal tourist route.
We had a great experience with Happy Campers. We had a few questions prior to and after booking and they were all answered promptly via email. They picked us up from the airport which is really close to their location, and dropped us off there as well. When we got there our camper was ready and we got directions on how to use everything and a map. They have an area where people pick up and drop off camping stuff you may have forgotten, like salt, pepper, mac & cheese, rice, noodles etc. We picked up some paper towels. The camper worked very well and we had a marvelous time. They gave it a quick inspection when we brought it back and we were on our way. Overall, a wonderful experience.
Our car broke down at the end of the trip. We spent two nights right at the front of the car workshop in the middle of nowhere. The last two days of our vacation we were waiting for evacuation. Instead of apologies from the owner we received very unpleasant attitude and accusations that we broke the car. As a great favor, they returned the cost for one day and only after I insisted on some compensation. The landscapes were nice, but the service when people came into action was terrible.
Great experience, and very easy to work with. Not uptight like many of the more corporate rental companies that shake customers down on every minor detail. Staff were really helpful with suggestions. The rental office is near two grocery stores, which made getting set up easy, even in our jet-lagged fog.One specific thing I like. The back seat of Happy 3 is a standard seat, with normal forward facing seat, and seat belts. Most of the other companies van conversions had the rear seat facing inwards, which I don't think is nearly as safe, particularly for kids.
Nice equipment and great service. We’ve used them twice, once as just my wife and I and this past summer with the 3 kids too. The smallest van, Happy 1, was a bit tight for my 6’3 frame, but the Happy 3 fit us all no prob. A Van’s the way to go in Iceland, and these guys are the best!
