The vehicle was unroadworthy, bad headlights, needed a wheel alignment. Wouldn't start in the cold and wet had to take it to a mechanic even they didn't like dealing with lucky rentals. The linen was stained pillows had blood on them were bought new ones. External lights didn't work, wiper blades were worn out we had to replace. The heater sparked and stopped working, we had to replace. There was no offer of compensation for our wasted time at the mechanics or the inconvenience incurred with unsatisfactory components in the vehicle. The vehicle obviously had not been serviced I think we did the audit of required repairs and unsatisfactory inclusions for this vehicle. Won't be recommending Lucky Rentals or Happy Campers to anyone.
Such a great experience with them in Iceland! From the punctuality, the professionalism and charisma of the staff, to the condition of the camper van… so well designed and really prepares for a road trip :)We took the Happy 2/3 pax for me, my partner and our 3-years-old and we really made the most of it.Benjamin (staff) was super friendly, funny and helpful both at pick up and drop off. Definitely recommend!
Worst company ever. Campervans are not in a good condition, even dangerous to drive. We had a breakdown on a bank holiday, they don't pick up the phone on bank holidays. We were stuck with no van for two days, we only claimed one dinner and one brunch for the two days and they only wanted to pay one of them (the cheapest, of course). They gave us another campervan, wheels needed to be replaced, dangerous driving. They are crooked. Don't rent with them if you want a safe and nice trip.
We rented a small Van for 5days in wintertime. Really good price, no problems with the car and everything from booking, pick-up and Return went smooth! Moreover the webpage is full of useful guides. You can tell that is not just about making $$, but actually making sure you get an awesome experience in Iceland. Will def. Recommend using happycampers
We hired a van last week - in the winter! The heater worked really well and we were never cold in the van in the night, we used the sleeping bags, duvets and blankets provided. Van was well-equipped. Would recommend getting a 4x4 as we opted not to, although we thankfully got on okay on the snowy roads. We managed to drive the entire Route 1 - completed the island and had a fantastic holiday.Really helpful, friendly lady (glasses, dark hair, picked us up from the airport - sorry we don't know her name!) showed us how to use everything in the van. Had to wait a little for pick-up from airport but all worked out well in the end! All email contact prior to our trip was detailed, helpful and received quick responses. Resources on the website are really useful.Everything is slick and the company is well done
Happy Campers were really great from start to finish. We hired the 4x4. When we arrived at the airport, we only waited for around 20 minutes for our shuttle to show up. We did, however have to wait almost two hours for our van to be ready but with free coffee and biscuits while we waited, it wasn't too bad! The van itself was great, it got us around the ring road and then some in all weathers from wind, rain, snow and ice. It was a delight to drive. The living quarters, while comfortable, were not as great. Our van had no independent lights at the back (apart from a reading light which didn't illuminate much) and in the winter, it was quite annoying having to use our phones as lights. There was one drawer for food storage and a cooler, which was more than we needed for food, but very little space for bags. Luckily we travelled light and brought backpacks with us, I couldn't imagine doing it in a suitcase! The gas cooker was a little finnicky when the gas bottle was less than half full, it couldn't heat a pot of water so we ended up having to buy a new gas bottle (the van came with 4 half full bottles, probably for that reason!). But once it got going, it was a great little cooker! The best part about the van, was the diesel heater. We stayed in temperatures ranging from 4c to -7c and we were toasty and warm all night! The bedding that came with the van was so cosy and we didn't feel too cold at all during our trip. Overall, it was a pretty good van, everything worked as it should, the price was great and the people at Happy Campers were an absolute delight to deal with. Any questions we had, they were right on hand to help with. It just didn't feel built for more than a day or two's travel due to the lack of storage and other points.
Best price/value of a rental car in Iceland. Their van are nice and clean even if sometimes they have troubles. However they'll always able to help you and you should not worry about that. You'll enjoy your trip without be annoyed by stuffs.
We had such an amazing experience in Iceland with our Happy 1 EX. The van was well equiped and very comfortable: heater, fridge, wifi, bed sheets, ...We could prepare our trip in the best conditions with the different resources available on the website, especially the camp site map (very useful !)We felt also very confortable on the happy campers office. The only bad point: no one came to ensure our transfer at the airport when we arrived (eventhough we booked it). We were told that no one found our flight number. We would have appreciated someone calling to check on us. We took a guesthouse in the end for the first night. Everything ended happily the next day, when they came to pick us up and refund us for 1 night. This can of course happen and and it did not affect our overall experience, which was amazing. We recommend !
