I won as advertised a Rolex Day-Date gold wristwatch with 18 carat gold clasp from Hatton Garden Auctions Ltd. I have had the watch tested by Gilbert Baitsons Auctioneers and the appraisal has shown that the clasp is only 8 carat and the strap is 6.96 carat. Rolex Day-Date should be all 18 carat gold. I have sent the details of the appraisal to Hatton Garden Auctions and asked for a refund or compensation for their false advertising. They have refused saying it was a trade auction and as a common man have no rights for anything and should have had the watch checked before bidding. Hatton Garden Auctions should test jewellery items for gold content instead of advertising the false quality of the item. Beware the dog gives a nasty bite.
I bought via thesaleroom.com through their sister company - Jewellery Auction House which has the same Director (James Hesketh) and next door address. The earrings that arrived are wholly different from the listing. The listing pictured them in an antique Swedish jewellery box by a good Stockholm maker. What turned up was in a modern case of a brand sold in Argos until recently! They refuse to refund and try to claim that photos and boxes are not part of the description. They make everyone pay by bank transfer to avoid refunds via credit or debit card and their Ts and Cs are horrendous - designed purely to deny fairness and consumer rights. DO NOT USE.Update: Just found other reviews which describe an identical experience to mine. They picture the jewellery in a beautiful, quality individual box to imply that the jewellery is better than it is and to imply some connection between the jewellery and the box. But then the box never comes; the jewellery comes in a super cheap modern box. If you try to collect in person, they tell you the item is in Norwich so has to be posted (I kid you not). When you complain about a misdescription, then they offer to resell the item 'for free' instead of a refund - I said no so I can only imagine what would have happened next! These people are what trading standards was invented for..Here is the response I got back from them today: "The earrings were as described, this lady complained as the display box for photos was not included, the box her earrings were sent in were just for transport only and not of any importance otherwise they would of been sent in a bag only. She has convinced herself that because they arrived in a Elizabeth duke box, that they came from there when in fact they did not as I have tried to explain to her, the earrings we tested are made from platinum and the sapphires in them are antique old cut sapphires, she is welcome to get them checked, then maybe she can apologise for making such fuss over a box that was never included in the first place. Best RegardsSusanThe Jewellery Auction House Ltd"
DO NOT BUY FROM HATTON GARDEN AUCTIONS! I purchased a Rolex Sea-Dweller from them and discovered it to be not 100% authentic. They have refused a return and keep fobbing me off by referring me to their T&C's which they seem to think override UK law.

Won a diamond ring at auction. It was sent quickly but unfortunately the diamond got misaligned in the post.I contacted Ann and she kindly offered to get it repaired at no cost to me.This was completed rapidly and returned to me and it looks great.Very good service all round.
I won a recent auction with Hatton and have to say, I too was sceptical regarding the auction process, their T&Cs and their payment requirements particularly after reading some of these reviews on Trustpilot. However, after I had paid, the item arrived on time and was exactly as described as per Hatton's listing details. Whilst some of the T&Cs and auction process may seem unconventional, I can only say that putting these to one side, the end result for me at least was 100% positive.
