This company cares more about its bottom line than you. They now charge your to send your own money to you. Also, if you hope to bypass this, by removing access to tie your account EXCEPT by using Plaid, they have essentially found a way sell your personal transaction information so they can get a discount on processing reimbursement accounts.
It's not nearly as much about "Security" as they would fool you into believing. You can bypass the sale of your information easily enough though. Just open an account somewhere that you don't do anything else with. Set it up, then block all future permissions and formally request Plaid delete all of your information. Bull shit that they expect to get to spy on your transactions from that point forward. Don't let them! And read the EULA!! It's very explicit!
The customer help function has never resulted in resolution of any questions or issues for me. It prompts you through AI assistant which has not once been useful or relevant, then goes to live agent whom unfortunately are either not trained nor given the tools to provide any resolution.
Health Equity is also completely uninterested in fraudulent charges. I had a fraudulent provider bill to the account (but no co-pay for me) so I did not pick up right away. I notified them as soon as I saw it and they told me "you don't have an out of pocket cost so why are you worried about it". You can thank Health Equity in part for our high health costs.
I have been trying to shut down my HSA and transfer the funds to a different service based on brutally bad service for over six months. I'm still unsuccessful and the service continues to charge fees. Worst HSA management imaginable.
I filed a dependent care claim for $4,999.92 on January 4, 2026, for the 2025 period. As of January 22, 2026, I have yet to receive the payment. They retain your funds throughout the year and then make it difficult to access them when you request a valid disbursement.

This service has been incredibly frustrating. I needed to log into my account tonight but spent the last hour trying to set a passkey due to a new security requirement. I still can’t access my account. Why is it so difficult to log in from a secure home computer with a secure internet connection? I plan to close this account as soon as I can.
There are unexpected charges, and no clear information about the electronic options for monthly statements. It's very challenging to navigate their website, as there are no search features. I will be halting my contributions immediately. The app and portal are cumbersome, and logging in takes an excessive amount of time due to numerous security measures that fail despite using the correct credentials. The app is ineffective, and being charged for biweekly contributions without receiving any service is outrageous. This feels like a scam and I plan to report it to the relevant authorities. I will speak with my HR department on Monday. Had I read these reviews beforehand, I would have chosen not to sign up. I can save my money and do not require the supposed benefits of this account. A wake-up call for the management team.
Accessing the account has been consistently challenging, especially since you frequently receive notifications that require verification for legitimate charges. Often, the same charge needs to be verified multiple times. This discourages usage. Although I’m not a user, my spouse is through a retirement benefit from a previous employer, and it’s not much of a benefit if it’s hard to utilize.
