Reviewing IT Career Switch is not easy because the course is a huge sprawling thing of many parts. First thing's first though - I completed my course and they found me a job! So we all did what we set out to do, and special thanks to Jasmine for her help and positivity in the recruitment stage. As for the course - it is hard! Really hard. I had already studied HTML, CSS and JavaScript for some time before starting so thought that I might be done in a few months. No way - it took me the whole year to do it, studying close to full time. The bulk of what you study is the Full Stack Developer course on CodeCademy so check that out to get an idea of what you will cover. It's an incredibly long course and takes a huge amount of effort and patience to get through. It can be very tough to stay motivated at times - it's just you, your brain, and the computer. No one will make you do the work - you have to motivate yourself. My motivation was the deadline, which fuelled my anxiety which forced me to work. I learned a ton though - for me being a student web developer always had me feeling like everything was a mystery. By the end of this course I had a decent, solid foundation and felt ready for the world of work. I suppose if anyone is thinking about this course, all I can say is that you have to really want it. Lots of people drop out. It's not impossible but it was the hardest thing I've ever done.And the final takeaway, for me it was totally worth it! I actually have my dream job now! Jasmine at IT Career Switch got me the interview and I couldn't be happier where I am as a Junior Developer.
I am currently in the third stage of my journey to becoming a developer. At this critical stage, having a patient and reliable tutor is essential, and I’m fortunate to have Stanley as my guide. His brilliant skills, in-depth knowledge, and unwavering support have been invaluable. I’ve learned so much from him during this time, and I’m truly grateful for his guidance.
I cannot commend Belinda enough. I was appointed Belinda after gaining my CompTia A+ certification. She has been fundamental in me finding my first role in the IT industry. Despite it taking a nearly a year to find my first role in IT, Belinda has been so supportive throughout, including emailing me weekly with vacancies to apply for, as well as checking in on me occasionally. At times, it was a struggle and I felt like giving up, having been rejected after countless interviews and so many job applications. However, Belinda was so supportive throughout and was so encouraging, and so funny at times. Aside from this, she was also really knowledgable when I want to query about changing my traineeship slightly. I personally feel Belinda is a credit to the company, and will miss her weekly catchups.
Liked the learning platform itself, very well structured and informative, gives general understanding of the key points, though requires lots of efforts to learn the material. The feedback from the tutors and the team is great. Especially thank to Janine, who quickly responded to the requests and guided me through the course steps.
I've just completed the Cybersecurity traineeship and secured my first role in security as a SOC Engineer. IT Career Switch were instrumental in helping me realise this goal of changing careers, into a whole new industry. The course was challenging at times but the content was very detailed and well put together. The internal exam at the end of the first part of the course was probably the most difficult, once you're past this you're well prepared for the A+ exams. The 2nd part of the course was more specific for Cybersecurity and more complex. I needed to add in some additional learning for the final CySa+ exam but that was just to look more in depth at points covered in the course videos (details given in the videos). It took me 3 years to fully complete the course and IT career switch were always there if I needed them. The recruitment team are amazing, giving support on CV writing, interview prep and finding suitable jobs to apply for. Overall I can't fault the service and experience, I now have a role in Cybersecurity because of this course and the support I received. Thank you IT Career Switch!
