I booked a tour but then had to cancel it because of work schedule. Because I knew this could happen I paid for the flexibel cancellation. Where they explain that you'll get a 100% refund. What they don't tell you is that the fee that you pay will not be refunded so in the end you pay them 10% just for nothing. I wouldn't recommend them.
First time traveling alone and I would do it with JTC again! I really was focused on traveling abroad and wanted to sail so I booked the Greece Cyclades trip which was advertised as less of a party boat with more of a focus on sailing. I did have a lot of experience sailing small boats back home and understand that you cannot control the wind, unfortunately we only really sailed 3ish days because of this. I don’t really think that hindered my experience at all because I was just grateful to be there but it’s something to keep in mind! I really feel like everyone there was there for a great experience and shared the same interest of traveling. Being on the water everyday was a dream and I got to learn more about sailing and get a lot of hands on experience. I think every sailing experience would be unique in what you and your crew decide to do especially after sailing and on land. We went to a winery, had dinner out, and just explored. When not out exploring we really operated as a home away from home cooking dinner and sharing meals. Loved taking swimming breaks in small bays! I feel like this was one of the coolest and most unique ways to see Greece and also meet people from around the world. Sailing with JTC is definitely at the top of my travel experiences so far and honestly I think it will be hard to beat. If you’re even thinking about going go!!
What an amazing trip!! 10/10 recommend! Corfu was a great place to explore and Marlon S. is the absolute GOAT skipper!!! He’s highly skilled and knowledgeable which made us more comfortable being out on the water without experience ourselves. Beautiful scenery, perfect water, and now cherished memories. We also had a great crew. As expected with strangers, there will be some conflict as people navigate working together in different ways. Our skipper, Marlon, handled that like a pro! He guided the crew well and created a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. Corfu was a dream so I highly recommend this trip! Any destination you decide to go, request Marlon S. as your skipper!
Had a nice time in Greece 2023 with JTC. I did like the youth wibe of the company. The price was fair and I had a really nice group on my ship, still have contact with some of them and the skipper. It was a bit more partying than I had expected, but I didn't mind. Have in mind that a lot of the experience is definitely connected to both what mindset you as a participant have and ofc what group you end up with. If you do like sailing and "social traveling" I definitely recommend jtc!
Do not book with them. I went on a trip on 2023 to the Lofoten Island, almost everything went OK, although it wasn't planed very well. The best thing about was the people I met, which didn't have much to do with them. After that trip, I decided to book another trip, this time to Iceland for July 2024. I paid 616€ (of 2050€) to reserve my spot. I contacted them April 17th letting them know that my work schedule had changed and I needed to rebook or cancel my trip. They tried to charge me a 50% of the trip price (1025€) as a 'cancellation fee', even if I wanted to rebook. When I told them that I wouldn't be paying the extra 410€ (to make up 50% of the trip price), either to cancel and much less to rebook which would mean more money, they redirected me to their abusive policies and they cancel my trip without reimbursing me.My guess is the company isn't going well, they aren't making enough money so they need to steal in order to keep afloat. There are still many spots available on that trip and Im guessing they won't fill them out.
I learned to sail in Croatia and had an awesome time with incredible people. I had some hesitation before booking as it's a new company but rest assured they know what's up and was the trip of a lifetime. Lots of similar minded solo travellers and opportunities to learn about sailing and have a ball along the way.
