Kickstarter allows anyone to raise money for anything, with zero accountability. They appear to do little to no vetting of those proposing projects, and when bad actors take off with the loot, KS will tell you too bad, that they are nothing but a pass-through for the funds, and have no way of getting them back. But, most important to them, they kept their cut, and you, the sad, exploited consumer, can go to hell. This is all ludicrous, of course, as KS provides a platform for every single campaign they host, and should take responsibility for the outcomes of those campaigns, especially when they know very well by this point that lots of people show up with no intention of doing anything but separating people from their money. If we translate this to real life, and make KS, I don't know, a shopping mall, would anyone really accept many of the stores in that mall stealing people's money and giving them nothing? Would people just walk away and say, "well, what can you do"? Would the landlord really be able to claim no accountability over any period of time, or would they be sued into oblivion for permitting criminal activity to proliferate? As long as the money keeps coming in, and KS gets to keep the percentage they charge, they will not do a thing about this.STAY AWAY
kickstarter have facilitated a bogus company 'vinylsonic' to raise over $600k (for a vinyl record ultrasonic cleaner) n vanish without ever showing proof of a working product or production facility, let alone delivering the final product to their 4000+ investors. kickstarter does not do any due diligence whatsoever. this means if you can setup a false company/contact & create some snappy promotional videos (not to mention get a bunch of creator/startup hype companies to push it), you can hoodwink folks to pledge thousands (if not over a million dollars) for vapour...! but kickstarter gets their cut, so they don't change a thing. reading thru the many other reviews/experiences of so many other campaigns that have not delivered, this is a fraudulent operation that is being allowed to continue...
Sadly, this company is what most people wrote about it: trash! They have the tendency to back scammers, or projects that will end up as being a ture scam. Take VinylSonic. raised over $669.000 for a project due to be delivered last Dec'2022; so far no news on it.
Don’t give your money. If it turns out to be scam you will receive no money or even details about the scammers. They keep the percentage of the money and case is closed on their part. They even promote the project as “projects we love” so maybe they are in on it… don’t waist your money and buy a real product.
Be careful backers because you're probably going to lose your money pledging Kickstarter projects. Before to subscribe any project on this platform check Vinylsonic story which is a good example of how Kickstarter doesn't care about backers. I repeat: be careful and think twice!2024-05 UPDATE: After more than one year KS never replied to any Vinylsonic backer while the creators in the meanwhile disappeared with the cash and KS firmly hold its cut.
Never back any projects!Got scammed by a creator. The rules of Kickstarter is that they just don't care. They don't even help by providing contact information of that specific creator. They probably don't care since they get a percentage of all pledges. What started as a great platform for creators, has now been infested with money hungry businessmen.Such a shame.
This is big con business they take card payment and promise the goods will deliver in 2 months and they will keep on giving you the excuse there is a delay in production. They know after 6 months you can’t dispute your payment with card provider, so you lose your money. Also, they never reply to your email
