I backed Livtab’s CyberOne project on Kickstarter in November 2022, with desks promised for February 2023. Now, in March 2025, I am still empty-handed and out about $1700. The campaign page remains active, misleading potential backers into thinking the project succeeded, while the reality is nothing but unfulfilled promises and a cascade of excuses. The creator, Shiran Han, hasn’t logged into their Kickstarter profile in over six months—a clear breach of Kickstarter’s requirements for regular updates. Instead of receiving official communications, backers are met with vague, off-the-cuff responses. My multiple contacts with Kickstarter Support have yielded only generic replies, such as:"I just want to re-confirm that we have received your report about this project, and our experts in project review, the Trust and Safety team will take action accordingly."This response offers no tangible resolution or refund, leaving us with nothing but excuses. Meanwhile, Livtab ran an Indiegogo campaign for the same desk and is now selling the CyberOne on livtab.com. Three years of delays and misleading updates suggest a deliberate strategy to string us along rather than deliver on their promises. After backing over 20 projects on Kickstarter, this experience has forced me to reassess my trust in the platform. The system is clearly failing backers when accountability is most needed. I can no longer recommend Kickstarter to those who value transparency and follow-through.Kickstarter needs to address these systemic issues rather than offer vague assurances. Until then, I will refrain from backing future projects on their platform.
It used to be good to support original ideas. My most recent support project took money for the project, and quite a large amount for shipping yet I am yet to receive anything. I raised concerns with Kickstarter and they've asked me to go to the creator who is not contactable. Those who have received the product believe it is a drop shipment from a mass produced factory without any brand name on the device. I will no longer be supporting Kickstarter until they can hold campaign owners accountable and put measures in place to prevent fraud and improve communication to supporters.
Wow! This Kickstarter thing is so rubbish I thought there will be some kind of minimum protection for the money we pay. I backed up the project for Elara robot and its been years but didn’t receive anything. I was thinking of raising a complaint and get the money back but what Kickstarter offers is really horrible. If the creator doesn’t fulfill his promise your money is just gone and on top of that the Kickstarter says they will monitor and ban and bla bla but not give your money back. Unfortunately i closed that bank account and neither i got that old card so not sure what to do. Not paying again for anything on Kickstarter #kickstarterscam#avoidkickstarter
I and many others are furious. Kickstarter has made it incredibly easy for scammers to take people’s money and walk away without consequences. They allow anyone to create a project, collect funds, and then disappear—and when that happens, Kickstarter does absolutely NOTHING to help the backers who got ripped off! Here’s what happened to me:I believed in a project. I backed it with my hard-earned money. And what did the project owners do? They took the money and ran!Once the funds hit their account, they VANISHED. No updates, no product, no refund—just gone. And Kickstarter? They wash their hands of it like they have no responsibility at all. Now, read below—this is what Kickstarter claims are its “responsibilities.” But trust me, when you actually need them, they don’t care.YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED Kickstarters Responsibilities - The following is on there website - We do not assess the viability of a creator’s project, monitor how they use funds, or reimburse backers if creators violate their agreement with backers, or are unable to fulfill rewards as planned. To build trust, we encourage open communication between creators, backers, and Kickstarter. In some cases, we notify backers when we have taken action against a creator or project, such as restricting the creator from launching projects on the platform.Nasty Nasty Nasty
I’ve had a few successful experiences with Kickstarter in the past, but unfortunately, my most recent project backing will be my last.Too many creators disappear with backers’ money, and Kickstarter takes no responsibility. Despite hosting these campaigns, the platform washes its hands of any accountability when things go wrong. My bank attempted to dispute the charge, but Kickstarter responded with a 12-page document defending their right to keep the funds. They pointed to the fine print, claiming I had agreed to these terms — essentially excusing themselves from any duty of care.At this point, I simply don’t trust Kickstarter or its creators. Once you’ve paid, you’re on your own — even if it becomes clear that the project was never going to be fulfilled. It’s a system that allows bad actors to exploit people with little to no consequence.Good luck to anyone still willing to take the risk. I won’t be making that mistake again.
I have had a couple of successful experiences with Kickstarter. However my last backing of a project with this company resulted in the creator disappearing with everybody's money. Kickstarter is holding no accountability whatsoever for the loss of our money. I would love to be able to continue to use this company but I just don't trust that there will be a follow-through by the creators and once again pay for a product that never had any intention of doing anything but grabbing our money and running.
I wanted to put our project on Kickstarter using an existing example. They rejected our project 2 times for reasons that should be also a rejection for the project we based ours on. But they got accepted not us. It seems to be very arbitrary and probably bought. We spent hours on this and our project 100% is a Kickstarter one. Too bad, exposed
Backed 4 projects… The postage on them makes them double the cost.Out of the 4 two are scams. I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU DO DUE DILLIGENCE because kickstarter certainly don’t.Kickstarter do not respond to any contact and make it really difficult to even find contact details.
