I had to cancel an order for £1698

I had to cancel an order for £1698I placed an order on line with Witham Timber whom I have used many times before with no problems at all. However, I learned that Witham had been taken over by Lawsons. Shortly after placing the order, I contacted Witham Timber to add a few items to my order. I was told that they were not handling my order and told me to contact Lawsons on line a new gave me their number. I was initially treated with respect and given a delivery date. When this delivery was not made I contacted Lawsons on line again and was treated with total disrespect being told to ring another branch of Lawsons as everything was in stock. From this point I was fed a load of lies and excuses that do not warrant including in this review.. Eventually, I was told by my local branch that thw order was loaded and would be delivered albeit over a week late. When it arrived only half the order was on the truck. The driver was embarrassed, as some of the items were even incorrect. I did not accept the delivery and cancelled the order. I was refunded the next day. What a shame that Witham Timber is now part of a dysfunctional Company.Needless to say I will not be using any of Lawsons outlets again. Keith Evans

Misleading delivery costs

They also own Witham timber which has a massive banner on their homepage stating free delivery over £350 only to find out that it’s only for certain items and the real cost for delivery is £60. Of you want to know about this hidden delivery feature you’ll need to dig into their delivery policies. Deliberately misleading advertising.

Very rude and unhelpful customer service

13/11/25 11.15 am just got off the phone to a very rude man from Lawsons Whetstone Ltd customer service. I was having trouble with completing a purchase worth over 1200 pounds. I explained there was a problem with their website for completing payments, as I tried it on two separate computer operating systems but it kept failing. No attempt was made to take my order or account name or try to complete it for me over the phone. When I asked have other people had a problem with the website, I was told "Some do, some don't" then was suggested to call a different number in Princess Risborough where someone might complete the purchase and arrange a courier to me in Norfolk..."Do you want the number or not". I was appalled by this arrogant rudeness and lack of willingness to help. I would not call giving me a number to call someone else as helping. If I am buying off your website but struggling due to your faulty payment system, so then call your main 01727 226666 number for your support team, I would expect you to be able to help me complete the purchase, not be rude, dismissive and pass the buck on to someone else. Based on my experience I would advise anyone considering purchasing from this company to avoid.

30 sept and still waiting for my telephone wire that Lawsons dangerous delivery driver pulled off the side of my house when delivering to my neighbour who is not even attached to my house, to be put back up, I’m in a leg brace and do not need this stress. Lawsons unhelpful do not care, not got in touch with me. Don’t use unless you happy to get your property or neighbours property damaged. Or worse still manic driver who could cause a serious accident.

Outstanding service and products

Outstanding service from start to finish!Ross went above and beyond - not only during the ordering stage, but also by checking in to confirm our delivery needs and even arranging an early delivery slot for us. On the day itself, he managed to organise a last-minute item swap (my mistake!) within just 20 minutes. The delivery team were equally fantastic, and the products themselves are of exceptional quality. Truly first-class service all around!

Time wasters

Showed a brick as in stock, took my order, took my money. Had 11 days to contact me, no phone call, no email. Only responded (by email) when I chased 1 day after delivery was due. Said it was out of stock. Had to cancel the builders and order from reputable supplier.

Lawsons Customer Service

This is by far the best supplier I have ever dealt with. The Customer Service is second to none. Thanks to Tom and Kevin at Sidcup and Emily at Crawley for their polite and helpfull manner in dealing with a problem regarding my order.

They only delivered part of the order…

They only delivered part of the order on the day I requested. The delivery guy had no idea when the rest would be delivered. I called in and nobody could give me an answer. They promised to call back in 10 mins and never did. I followed up calling again and sent 3 emails. I had also reported 3 badly damaged boards (out of 38 ordered) that I asked to be replaced. Ultimately, they ended up delivering the remainder of the initial order on a random day of their choosing, without checking someone was going to be there, and left the items on the pavement with one side on the neighbours' rubbish bin. This was 4 days after my selected day. They have still not responded to my request to replace the 3 damaged boards. I'm sure they'll never do. I recommend you take your business elsewhere. I certainly will do.
