Honest, helpful, fair price, no hidden costs. We also got a nail in the tyre, called them and they said bring the car back and they will sort it out. We kind of expected they would bill us to change the tyre...but instead they just swapped the car over and we were in and out in 5 mins. Prior to using this company I used Firefly (Herts).....if you read my review on them you will understand why I decided to try another company.
I hate renting cars abroad so tend not to. Right from the big sell of extra products at the beginning to being ripped off for fuel or damage to the car you haven’t done is grief I don’t need on holiday. I had no choice but to hire a car on this holiday and I was pleasantly surprised by this company. There was a short wait at the airport for the transfer and then at the office for the car but the staff were friendly enough. I started to worry a little when I noted some minor cosmetic damage to the car and photographed all the damage but the staff reassured me it was fine. The damage didn’t bother me but I didn’t want a big charge at the end. The car, a Renault Megane, was mechanically sound, relieable and fuel efficient. I did quite a bit of driving in the car and emailed them through the week with a couple of concerns we had. They replied promptly and reassured me. I guess I’m a little “car rental paranoid”On returning the car at 4am we were met with a friendly member of staff and promptly transferred to the airport. A very pleasant experience. We paid for the full package and took out our own excess waiver insurance for £18 in the U.K. but we were very happy with the price and service we received. I would definitely use this company again. I have read the whinges about people worried about the cars being tracked and I fail to see a problem unless you are doing something underhand. The company has to protect its assets and stop the cars being stolen. Thanks for a great experience we would definitely use you again.
Please be aware that Malagacars is secretly tracking you journey from you get the car until delivery back. We have rented a car for 4 weeks paying Eur 1,294.49 (Outrageous!), which is 1/3 higher then last year. We are living in Marbella and wanted to make a short drive into Faro, Portugal. Out of the blue they charged additional Eur 90.00 by tracking the car. They know all about you and where you are going. Question is whether this is GDPR compliance within EU. Will check for sue! By the way we have rented car with Malagacars 17 times and nobody informed us re the secret tracking!
advise readers paid a €1200 deposit on a car returned the car it was inspected and told all fine deposit would be returned within 3 day. Despite phone calls and emails to them I have now been waiting 20 days !! It’s a shame because I will never use them again!
We tried to use a rival company, based just down the road from Malagacars, but unfortunately they had massively scaled down their operation during this tail end of COVID, so on various recommendations, went with Malagacars. They are pretty expensive but we went for the full cover option. The car itself was covered in large scrapes and scratches, but it had a low mileage and we had no problems with the mechanics of the car during the 10-day hire. It just looked a bit of a mess, which was quite sad considering how little the mileage was. Apart from the shuttle bus drivers, who were friendly and clearly did their best, the rest of the staff were unfriendly, abrupt and borderline rude, especially on return, when we didn’t realise the correct place to park. I’m not a big fan of Spain in general and I get the impression the feeling is mutual, especially with the British…. The car was totally reliable though which I suppose we should be grateful for. Due to the abrupt shouting of the man gesticulating at us about where to park the car on return, we hurriedly left the keys with him, and left for the airport on the awaiting shuttle bus. As a result, we accidentally left our keyring on it. This has sentimental attachment, as it was a keyfob from the last trip I did to Hong Kong. Needlessly to say, when we enquired about it later, they sent another abrupt note saying “nothing had been found”. Which is rather upsetting, as clearly they’ve taken it.For all the reasons listed above, I’m afraid we cannot recommend Malagacars. We are fortunate to be very well-travelled, and I would rate this experience to be at the bottom of the pile of various car hire companies we have used around the world. We would thoroughly recommend Helle Hollis a few doors up the road, if they are up and running again, as our experience a couple of years’ ago with them, by contrast to Malagacars, was very good (cars in good condition, friendly & helpful staff).
Oh at last a Spanish car hire firm I feel I can trust!! The rental was totally trouble free. Maybe a little too long queuing to get the paperwork and payment when I picked up the car, but apart from that just excellent service! Definitely will be using them again. 👌
Unreliable. couldnt care less .I'll be amazed if this negative review is posted. another sign of unprofesionality.I and a long term customer who recommended them wrote emails requesting monthly rates.. No reply,,,,I went to their primitive dirty office. I as other customers were ignored by the 3 staff. Eventually I spoke , in Spanish, to an employee who advised all bookings must be done thru the website they cant or won't deal with walk ins! Must be the only rentacar in the world to operate that way.THey gave me the owners -Alberto email suggesting I contact him but warning he was very busy so mihght not reply for some time . 6 days later he still hasnt . we spoke to a woman Montse explaining the needed quote. she too ignored it despite 2 further emails. You will understand from this sad tale Malaga cars.com are inept and not to be trusted to rent from. This experience indicates a booked car may not be there for you a way to ruin the start of your vacation . I recommend stay away and book elsewhere
