I am not going to lie

I am not going to lie. This is one of the most challenging things I have ever done and it has proven to be a tough journey for me and at the end of the day is it worth it? Absolutely! I have learned so much since signing up for TRE and I am still learning and growing. I struggle with some of the concepts but with all the support you get, you push through. One of the best decisions I have ever made, to join a community that is supportive and sets you up for success. Thanks to the staff and engineers at Mastering.com for this.

Definitely expensive, but worthwhile for those highly self-motivated

There are too many good things about this program to list frankly. It’s well thought out, covers a vast scope of knowledge and dives deep in all the areas it needs to. When the material doesn’t answer a question directly, the answer is either 1) simply further down the line in the material, or 2) found in a previously recorded coaching call. If it’s not there, you bring your questions to the calls. Or the community- active, engaging, open for education/collaboration - you name it. Only drawback, which almost made me give 4 stars is that it is not cheap. And there are “elective” add-ons that also come at a charge. I can honestly say that because of the cost the program is not and cannot be for everyone. Plus it’s self directed learning- so while there is help I would think it’s best for those self motivated to improve and evolve. It is truly an investment in yourself. And you’d be hard-pressed to find this level of accurate, helpful and engaged information packaged in an easily consumable way with tons of support along the way. Oh- and a lot of convenient discounts with major companies for equipment too (absorption panels, plug-ins, etc etc)5-stars, because, despite the expense, they still deliver way more value than you pay for.

If you want to grow as a musician. Seriously. This is it.

I believe mastering.com is probably one of the best sources to allow musicians to feel like they are progressing day by day, week by week, month by month. They've collected a conglomerate of resources, articles, and videos, on top of creating their own original videos and resources, and personal mentorship system, and put them all together in a chronological learning strategy. They have created an excellent product for those who want to improve in the mixing mastering and producing categories. I've taken many courses in the past, but none like this before. If you are looking to truly seriously grow as a musician, or an audio engineer, then look no further.

I have had a very great experience!

I have had a very great experience with TRE. I am about half way through the program and TRE and everyone in it owns up to their promises. The community is great, the mentors are patient and help guide you along the way, and the knowledge you get is priceless. The skills I've acquired during this program far succeed those I've learned anywhere else. Highly recommend this!

Excellent training for audio mixing, mastering and production.

I have been a student for around 9 months and have really appreciated and enjoyed the TRE course training in mastering and mixing (not yet started on the production syllabus).Although I've been playing music for over 50 years, I've not previously been interested in the technical side of producing recorded music to a professional standard. If that's your interest, then I would highly recommend mastering.com for its impressive, highly-detailed presentation of what can be an overwhelmingly complex subject. The online course work and many hands-on exercises is supported by an extensive schedule of online in-person mentoring, and a large enthusiastic, helpful community of fellow students.I was convinced to join by watching several of their free, 3-day "Fix the Mix" presentations. So much was presented in these session, and it made me realize the value and - at least for me - necessity of taking the time and effort to explore the whole subject in much more depth. Within the course material, along with the technical understanding, there was a strong emphasis on other essential skills that any professional recording engineer needs to have, such as deep ear training and the ability to create a professional-grade listening environment. This is the best and most enjoyable learning experience I have encountered (I've had a few!) and I would thoroughly recommend the TRE program to anyone looking to develop their ability to produce professionally competitive music, from initial recording to the finished, mixed and mastered, final product.

You cannot beat Mastering.com for audio production, as well as mixing, and mastering. They have a unique way of teaching. Their community is very helpful, and there are zoom calls every week day. They are all recorded, you will not miss a thing.

A transformation worth the money

When you're reading this, you are probably stuck with your music, either knowingly or unknowingly, simply by a lack of knowledge or the abundance of conflicting techniques you found on youtube. I was there too and it was very frustrating! So last year I finally got myself to take action and address the missing pieces in my music production knowledge. For this I joined Mastering.com's "The Reverse Engineer" program and it was the best decision I've ever made in my music journey (I've tried various forms of tutoring before)."The Reverse Engineer" is by far the best self-paced online course out there for everyone who is serious about their music.  They teach Mastering, Mixing and Music Production in that order! Which is revolutionary and very effective. On top of that, when you join The Reverse Engineer program, you get one year unlimited access to their weekly (3-4 times per week) coaching calls where you get to discuss your tracks with their mentors in a group setting. Their mentors are all high level producers active in the industry and they can instantly address what's wrong with your arrangement, mix and master. They also have guest lectures with other even more established industry professionals who's brain you can pick 4x per month. These sessions have absolutely transformed my music production / mixing+mastering capabilities and I would love for you to experience the same transformation! Now look, this program is expensive... Especially for those who work outside of the western economy. But it's a sacrifice that imo everyone serious about music production should make. Believe me, instead of buying more (AI powered) plugins because some influencer got paid to tell you to do so or buy a cheap video course, or even join a crazy expensive traditional music college, mastering.com is where you should spend your money first! After that you will be enlightened that it's not about the gear, you might even sell some of your stuff like I did. All you need is in this program (DAW excluded haha).

Started Good

I joined the TRE program and it started good, but they integrated it with a bigger, more expensive program. During feedback calls, I suspect they know what program you are in and try not to help too much if you came from the cheaper program. This is disappointing. They locked the group so I can't mark progress off in the course (i had a few modules that I had not finished and now I can't.) I hope my experience is the exception; the course work seems legitimate, but without the mentoring it seems like not a good value.

Not really worth the money

I had a chat with a gentleman named Jackson, who may or may not still be with the company. I didn't pay the full price for the program but the fee to keep me on the mailing list and potentially join if/when i was ready. I have been producing/composing music for commercials for about 18 years, making a decent living, if not doing exactly what I want to musically. I mainly wanted advice with getting my non-commercial music onto playlists, and getting more work as a producer of artists and bands - mainly business advice more than technical mixing/mastering advice. I think these guys should have just said "we are not the ones to help you" but instead they said they could help, and continued to pitch their services to me with frequent emails. Granted, I didn't really follow through with them. But all the videos and emails they have sent focus on the mastering strategy and not the business side of things. Now, it's possible i'm just not a good songwriter and that's not something these guys can help with. I have watched a few how-to/engineering tricks, and they're not bad, though not necessarily mind-blowing either. So I'm not really sure what they actually offer. I just received an email from a singer/songwriter/producer on behalf of mastering.com. When I searched out and listened to his music, I was pretty disappointed with not just the music, but the production too. And this was one of the guys they thought should be a voice of the company. It brings the whole enterprise into question. I give them more than one star because some of their tips/tricks videos could definitely be helpful to people who are just starting out.
