Why is Northern Railway hiring contractors to shoot pigeons? They are no harm to commuters. Pigeons are trying to survive in an urbanised world and do not deserve to be harmed. Absolutely shameful.
I was waiting for my train at Manchester Victoria recently when I noticed a pigeon stuck just above where I was sitting, lodged between station fixtures, clearly in pain and badly mutilated. After some research, it turns out this company hires contractors to "cull" local pigeons, despite warnings from said contractors that said culls are ineffective long term, amounting to what is essentially the torture of animals for the sake of torturing animals.
This is frankly disgusting and cruel behaviour from the company towards such a beloved group of creatures by the public. I will be boycotting this company and encouraging my 200k+ social media followers, the majority of whom are based in the local area, to do the same.
Once again, there are significant delays and cancellations affecting services. The reasons given often seem inadequate, and it’s become an accepted norm for delays to occur. Despite substantial government funding, it’s unclear how these resources are being utilized. This situation is unacceptable, and improvements are urgently needed.
Once again, there were cancellations and delays for services today. Many believe the explanation of a broken-down train is just a cover for deeper issues within the rail system. People in the UK seem to accept delays and cancellations as normal. Despite significant government investment in the rail system, it's unclear where this money is going. It should be used to improve infrastructure, signals, and train updates. This situation is unacceptable and needs to be addressed.
I would give zero stars if possible. I travel locally several times a year, and every time my service has been cancelled. Additionally, the planning seems flawed as my route no longer stops at a key station. Instead, it bypasses it completely, adding unnecessary travel time. This feels like a cost-cutting measure, and it would be better if the trains were simply punctual. My journey should take 20 minutes but often takes 40. No wonder I prefer driving!
My granddaughter and her school friends were stranded because the train driver didn’t show up. They waited on the train until the cancellation was announced. It’s hard to believe this was the first time the company was aware. No assistance was offered to the children, who had parents waiting for them.
I use the service regularly, and delays are a common occurrence. While a few minutes late is acceptable, delays of 10 or 20 minutes are frequent. The number of cancellations late at night is frustrating when I need to rely on the service. It’s hard to understand how such a poorly performing company remains operational. The government should intervene with this situation.
If it were possible, I would give negative stars. The service is consistently poor—trains are often cancelled or late, and there aren’t enough carriages. It’s hard to understand how this company continues to operate under such conditions.
