My chocolate arrived with bloom. Customer service said it was my fault for not choosing the $100 next day shipping option. The option box clearly advises to choose this option if degrees are over 70F. I ordered during the ice storm at about 0-13F. When I told them this they then said I needed to contact them within 24 hours. Lastly, i purchased a 5.5lb bag on 1-29-26, it expires on 3-9-26. So for all this, I'm getting an almost expired product with customer service that is refusing to offer ANY concessions, not even a discount code.
I’m so grateful to have found a distributor of couverture chocolate as it is extremely difficult to find. They ship promptly & put in the extra effort to make sure your package arrives in good condition. I bake for the farmer’s market & I can definitely tell the difference in the callebaut chocolate vs what I can buy at a grocery store. The higher fat cocoa powder is very noticeable in applications like sprinkling on top of tiramisu. The lower fat Hershey’s I can get at my grocery store is dry & tacky where the Cacao Barry Nature is creamy & smooth. Making chocolate icing or brownies with melted couverture chocolate has a much richer flavor as well. Thank you Pastry Depot for providing a source for these exceptional products!
I felt a bit hassled about choosing a different shipping method. I know what product I ordered and I know melting is not an issue with it as it will not affect its useability. Maybe make sure your customer service is aware? It was a bit rude when, I indicated to keep the original shipping, to send a rather rude email to me announcing not to expect any refund if the product came melted when I had just indicated that was ok.
