This response is absolute nonsense.
Almost all UK motor insurance policies clearly state that if a policy is cancelled within the statutory 14-day cooling-off period, customers are entitled to a full refund, or at most a small, clearly disclosed administration fee. Keeping a large chunk of a deposit — over £300 — after just 4 days of cover is a joke and completely unjustifiable.
This was not a year of cover, not a claim, not misuse — just 4 days. Charging hundreds of pounds for virtually no cover is exploitative and totally out of line with standard UK insurance practice.
Reducing my No Claims Bonus from 5 years to ZERO without justification, taking payment immediately, and then refusing a proper refund is not “transparent” or “fair treatment.” Hiding behind vague terms and conditions does not make this acceptable.
If you were genuinely unable to locate the policy, that only highlights serious internal process failures. Customers should not have to chase refunds after money has already been taken.
If these practices are allowed under your terms and conditions, then those terms are clearly unfair and designed to financially penalise customers for almost nothing. I stand by this review and strongly believe this matter warrants scrutiny by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
Never mind the good I said about this company. They’re clearly incompetent beyond belief. I had left a positive review for huw as I assumed he dealt with my issue. On Monday, the 26th my policy was due to cancel as the payment was due, I explained to agent huw for an extension until the 28th or even the 27th to make this payment. Agent huw explained I would need to contact the finance provider but I explained to huw I was abroad for family matters and was unable to call, huw said he would be able to make the call on my behalf. After a few minutes huw got back to me asking if the date being changed to the 30th would work to which I said yes, huw confirmed this was changed for me. Fast forward a few hours later and I received an email from quote detective as well as the finance provider stating the policy was cancelled. Today, when quote detective were open, I had went on chat to discuss this and whether this email was automated, to my surprise, it was in fact not and the agent explained that the previous agent “huw” had made an error and the policy was never extended. This now means I’ve got a cancellation to declare permanently and constant higher prices from this utterly poor service and ridiculous company

I regret choosing this service. After just 5 weeks of having the policy, I needed to update my address and was hit with a £100 charge. While I understand that fees can apply, many companies today allow address changes through an online portal. I definitely won't be returning next year. £100 seems excessive! In response to the generic reply I received, I want to clarify that there was nothing to email about; I simply needed to change my address, and the £100 fee was unjustifiable. I received a receipt for the payment along with the updated address, but I find it outrageous that such a high fee is charged for a simple amendment. I will not be renewing my policy or recommending this service to anyone. I wrote this review to inform others about the questionable fees associated with this company.
I urge you to read this review. If there was a system for negative stars, I would choose that. I canceled my insurance even before it began, explaining that I needed the funds for another policy totaling 1143 pounds. They sent me an email stating I would receive my refund within 30 days, but after waiting that long, I still hadn't received my money! When I followed up, they mentioned it would take 30 working days and that it depended on how quickly the broker processed the payment. It's absurd how many inconsistencies they provided. The email clearly stated 30 days, not working days. I went through a different service and they indicated this was just an excuse. After more than 30 days, I reached out again, but they didn't reply. I eventually called them, and only then did they claim they had sent the money. It took 33 days and a phone call for them to take action, which should have been done within the specified time frame. I wonder what would have happened if I hadn't called. When I checked with my bank about the supposed transfer, they informed me there was no pending amount. The level of misleading information and dishonesty I've encountered is unacceptable and unbelievable! This situation has caused me significant stress and financial strain. I'm uncertain when or if I'll ever receive my money. I'll wait another 3 days, and if nothing changes, I will escalate this issue to the relevant financial authorities.

They compel you to call to ‘validate’ your information and provide a rate that is significantly different from what is listed online. I've reported them; no broker should conduct business this way today. The staff display a lack of knowledge and struggle to answer questions, even the sales manager. They claimed my rate increased due to my no claims discount being from a previous company, but I know that many others accept this as standard. This seemed like an excuse to justify the misleading online rate. I requested a simple email confirming the insurer of the rate I saw online, but they outright refused without explanation. Very suspicious!
