Have been growing with Roots for two years now and it’s been such a positive experience. Your membership comes with an annual seeds drop, plug plant drops, communal tools, woodchip, compost and manure. The growing community is very engaged with various WhatsApp messaging channels and the management team both onsite and off is proactive and responsive. The impact to my mental health and lifestyle has been immeasurable. So grateful Roots exists.

Don't be fooled by the altruistic sounding idea behind this. Caused noise and lots of traffic with no thought to advise residents who've lived next to the field for years and yet the residents have to put up with heavy diggers working at weekends and during the week. No habitat survey was done prior to lots of 6ft + deer fencing being installed - they claim to be eco friendly but obviously not regards wildlife - having a digger work for days next to nesting birds in hedgerows isn't my idea of eco friendly. Definitely not community friendly unless of course you've paid for an allotment. Interesting to read that Brighton and hove weren't interested in them.

Roots are an excellent idea. Especially if you are starting out on your growing journey. I was in a waiting list for a local allotment . It has now been 3 years and no allotment. I am experienced at growing. (Learnt a lot of grandad and dad). But there is always more you can learn. The plot managers are great sources of knowledge. Also the videos you have access to when a member are invaluable. The equipment, plug plants and seeds are excellent too.
