SAFE STEP IS GOING TO TAKE MY HOUSE!!!
I'm 63 year old disabled woman. I live alone in Sumter County Fl with my dogs. No children, just an older brother left in my original family.
I'm now dealing with an impossible situation
I am a victim of a predatory sale of a walk in tub from Safe Step Tubs.
That means that the Safe Step Tub salesman Greg Bundy who came to my house to make a tub sale knew I was in no condition financially or physically to make an informed decision on a $22,000.00 purchase.
Despite knowing I was permanently disabled and scheduled for a heart operation in two weeks, the salesman insisted that a Safe Step Tub would help me medically to reduce my constant pain and allow me to age in place gracefully.
I told him how sick I was, just two weeks away from a heart operation for AFIB. That combined with an undiagnosed extreme iron deficiency, left me vulnerable.
I told the salesman that I was afraid that I couldn't afford a tub.
He insisted and even told me he never saw a Safe Step Tub repossessed.
He told me I could get a part time job to pay for my Safe Step Tub in house loan after I recovered from my heart operation.
Despite knowing I had been disabled since 2005.
I agreed to purchase the tub because I can hardly walk and I am in constant pain.
The tub was installed before the loan was approved.
Leaving me no way to pay for the tub.
That predatory sale turned into a construction lien on my home.
That lien is now a foreclosure judgment.
I have until Friday at 5 PM to pay $22,000 or I lose my home.
I have a modest 2 bedroom one bath home that I paid for myself. I thought I would live out my life here.
Despite having equity in my home, there is no way for me to access it.
I have no cash to hire a lawyer.
I had no idea until yesterday that the judge could actually send my house to auction after the Friday deadline.
I have been basically bedbound for the last five years. I only get up for necessities. I have over 50 medical diagnoses.
If my home is foreclosed upon on Friday they can send my house to auction, which means I will lose everything I have left in my life.
And this is being done to an older disabled senior woman with no other assets, making $2,000.00 a month on Social Security Disability.
From a company that takes in 118 Million dollars a year.

Tub was purchased in January of 2025. The installation did much damage to the walls of the bathroom even though the finished installation was acceptable. After a few months the rain shower head sent a stream of water onto the painted wall soaking to the point where paint began to run. Called customer servic4 and it took several weeks before a service rep showed up. They repaired the loode connection to the wall but said they would order the new shower head and have it sent to my home. After a couple of weeks I contacted customer service rep did not place the order.More recently the door seal began pulling off and customer service was called again. They said they would contact the service tech and have them call me ASAP. It has been over three weeks and have not heard from a service tech, Today, December 31, I contacted customer service again to complain and got the same response. They will contact the tech and have them call ASAP.Bottom line is their customer service sucks. In addition, the product is not all that great. If you select their smaller versi0on and you are over 5 foot tall you can not completely cover yourself with water unless you scrunch down.
the tub itself is really well built and feels safe, which is great. installation was mostly smooth, and customer service was friendly. my only gripe is with the jets—sometimes the pressure isn’t consistent if you try to run multiple at once. still, overall happy with it and it makes bathing much easier and safer
The Step In Tub is well constructed customer service is excellent however they should fix the problem of the Jets when the fronts are on alone. They work fine when the red jets on a long day work fine but when you put both on there was no pressure.
The customer service is rude and the company targets unsuspecting elderly. The company hires unprofessional installers. The company pressures elder clients into signing approval of the work. Then will not fix the problems with installation.
