So after being messed around with the door, I finally had it installed today and im beyond disappointed and terribly upset. They silicone has not been done correctly around the door and the inside of the door frame has large gaps around it, also, because the manager ordered the wrong handle, im left with a pair of pliers holding the handle 'secure' if i had of known how the final door would look, along with the trouble ive had, i would have never ever of used safe style, this is quite the most biggest mistake I have ever made!
Was initially happy with safestyle, they gave me a very good quote for a patio door, two standard windows, a composite front door and two bow windows all in anthracite grey just before Christmas, no gimmicks, no promotional offers.
So decided to get it done in two stages.
February 3rd, installers came and fitted patio door and the two standard windows.
It was getting dark when they left, but all looked ok, except there was a mark on the inside of one of the glass units in a window, I pointed this out to the installers and they agreed and made a note of it and said it would be replaced. Minutes after they finished someone from company rang me and asked if all was Ok and asked for the balance to be paid for the said windows and patio door, once again I mentioned the mark (and once again they said it would be replaced ) I then trustingly paid the balance.
After another 10 minutes or so, someone from the company rang me again and said he could probably get me a better price on the composite door and bow windows ( to be honest, I was happy with original price and would have paid the deposit ) after about half an hour he got back to me, only this time he came back with a price which was £500 higher than the original quote, stating that the original quote had a promotion on it. I don't recall a promotion on it.
Needless to say, I told them, I didn't want to go forward with them.
It was only the next day in broad daylight, I noticed that no silicone had been applied to the exterior sides of the patio door and the silicone applied to the top of the patio door was quite frankly, absolutely not done to a very good standard, but it was done in anthracite grey, whereas the windows were done in clear silicone and again not done to a good standard (no tape had been used to create a fine line).
I'm a Joiner by trade and have installed a lot of uPCV myself.
So now, I'm going to have to rectify it myself, especially now that I'm not going any further forward with them and no doubt, they will not come and replace damaged window unit, I have not heard anything from them yet, admittedly, the installion was done just under two weeks ago.
I have emailed them 3 days ago with photo attachments of said issues, so far no reply and to be honest I'm not expecting a reply.
I have used safestyle in the past and been happy with them, unfortunately, I wont be using them again and will not be recommending them to anyone.
I have now had a new quote from a local company ( who I have also used in the past and wish I had used them for this job) and they have come in with a quote of £1000 less than safestyle to finish off what I need doing on this job.
We previously used Safestyle on two occasions — once at our old house and again for our current front door — both before the company went into liquidation. On both of those jobs, the service and workmanship were very good, which is why we felt confident getting back in touch to upgrade our windows.
Unfortunately, since the takeover, our experience has been extremely disappointing. We booked an appointment for a quote at 7pm, but no one turned up. Despite this, we were sent a quote earlier that same morning for a door, which clearly wasn’t for us as nobody had been to the property to measure or discuss anything.
When I called the company, they were apologetic and said the issue would be passed on to management and that someone would be in touch but no one called although we already rearrange the appointment, only for them to call again to move it because it was inconvenient for them. On the rearranged date, once again, no one showed up.
Given our previous positive experiences, this was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. The lack of communication, reliability, and basic organisation means we won’t be using the company again, and it’s a shame to see such a drop in service compared to how Safestyle operated before liquidation
Rubbish and waste of time.
I have high ceilings windows to be fitted. I rang them up a quote and explain to them it high ceiling. they said not worry we will sort it. the young lad came over looked at it had cup of tea chatting away.looked how high it is said yeah we'll sort this out. but begging me to pay I'll pay my deposit of 500 pounds then he went. the surveyor rang me jack the lad. I explained to him how high it is. they start making excuses And he was rude. he said that he will contact me after you spoke to his supervisors. never rang me I had to chase him. still rude on the phone you want me to take a day off for him to come and visit he said he'll come down and look from the back garden and take a picture. then I had a cancellation letter saying that they can't do it what a waste of time and money.. please don't go with these lot they're waste of time.
A disclaimer that should Anglian Home Improvements wish for them (Anglian Building Products), Everest and Safestyle (trading names of ASHI Group Limited) to be considered as separately operating entities, don’t send your people in a Safestyle van to complete window and door replacements on a Bromford contract whereby Anglian Building Products is the name used.
I am well within my rights to cover all bases given the above facts.
Reviewers and potential customers: See my Anglian Home Improvements review. Trust your gut, the employees of the unholy trinity of window and door companies will lie to you. They will try to insult your intelligence and assume you have no capacity to fact check their nonsense. If you are unfortunate enough to have taken up their services, take photos of literally everything prior to them attending, whilst in attendance and after they leave, be prepared to seek out an informal qualification in window and door installation in the likely event they cut corners and lie about it.
They will assume you’re stupid and they are the experts of which I’ve yet to see proof of.
CHECK YOUR NEW INSTALL CLOSELY - things to look for but in no way limited to, excessively wide casing trims particularly where previous windows had none or very narrow ones (indicative of incorrect measurements taken and windows being way too small for the space, or shoddy unsealed inner parts, damage, incorrectly prepared frame structures) lack of sealant under outside window ledges which leaves screws exposed, warped and/or cracked door frames (often signs of not correctly placing packers behind fixing screw points) well overshooting the inch wide jamb space available to insert fixing screws, particularly where they compress the weather seal seat (raised lip that is part of the door right off the production line and goes all the way around the jambs of windows and doors) this is a sign that they did not bother to screw pilot holes which is standard practice and they likely did that rather than arrange for the structural frame to be correctly prepared and/or due to be too lazy to use packers. Increased general noise rather than a reduction after new install (like neighbours talking normally in their garden) pay attention to whether the chatter is louder in certain spots of the same room as this can help identify where inadequate insulating sealant has been used, and can be a sign of inadequate sealing of the inner workings and/or incorrect sealant being used overall. Sudden appearance of damp spots or rapidly growing black mould. Check in the crevices of smaller windows and frames to make sure screws are in properly and all accounted for, and check the window jambs to ensure the screws have not caused warping of the frame, and not rubbing against or overlapping/warping the black seal/gasket. Check glazing seals for any warps, damage or compressions, no matter how small. They will state that it won’t affect the speed at which the argon gas escapes, but any defects will contribute to this. Seal defects will also add to an increased level of outside noise due to the scientific nature of how noise reduction works. Check the joins inside and outside for gaps, check that where window casings trim and general trims are used, they are adequately sealed all the way around, both inside and outside. Check that behind door hinges are adequately sealed, check that doors are flush when closed and handle pulled up, and that windows do not feel stiff to open and close (this might be due to lack of lintels which is more common in old properties where their original windows were built to be a structural element, when these were removed in favour of Upvc, not all contractors would have added lintels due to building regulations being less strict then. Upvc windows are not structural elements and it shouldn’t be assumed that the structural frame has adequate support just because there were pre existing plastic frames fitted. You should not be able to see the jamb from outside with the door closed, check they have installed safety glass at all risk points and the glazing is correctly marked (see building regulation guidance for risk point requirements) ensure they’ve fitted new windows with trickle vents (the only exception other than listed building and protected areas are if you have a continuous mechanical ventilation WITH HEAT RECOVERY system - this is NOT the same as a continuous mechanical vent. Any windows that previously had trickle vents automatically require trickle vents on the new ones, no exceptions.
The list is not exhaustive, if something doesn’t look or feel right, it probably isn’t. Don’t let them gaslight you into thinking you’re being fussy about aesthetic things, dodgy looking aesthetics often mask bad install jobs.
Looking to purchase a new front door… had a gentleman called Callum that wanted to chat.. already input all my credentials online he then asked for them again.. want to book me in for a home visit to have my door measured up.. couldn’t give me a price until this was done.. he became quite rude when I said forget it I’ll go elsewhere.. told me Everest were the same as he assumed I would go there instead all I wanted was an idea it’s easier to buy a car than a door!!!… check all negative reviews imaging what would happen if something went wrong if I had ordered.. the staff need to go to charm school…
We would like to sincerely thank V J for taking the time to visit. His professionalism, knowledge, and respectful manner were truly appreciated. He conducted himself impeccably and represented your company to a very high standard. V J is clearly a credit to your organisation, and it was a pleasure dealing with him. Please pass on our thanks and appreciation.
I had so many issues, that are being echoed throughout these complaints. From mis-selling of contracts, to mismeasured doors that left my property open for weeks on end! Missing deadlines, appalling customer service, damage to my property. When I wanted to raise a complaint I was threatened with legal action. Disgusting behaviour throughout. Now they refuse to speak to me so I am preparing my own legal action against this company and would urge many others that have had similar issues to consider this. This is the worst, most unethical company I have ever come across and I WILL taking them to court as the refuse to co operate once they have your money!
We just had our new front door installed and it seems fine. But I'm not happy that I will need to use a key on the inside to lock the door every time I come in.This was never mentioned by the salesman who came round, or the guy who came to take measurements and discuss the options. I'm sure we talked about not getting locked out when closing the door, which is what we wanted (happy to lock it from outside every time we need to), and he could see what we currently had on the other door. I just wanted it to work the same as what we had.I don't understand why anyone would choose that design feature of needing a key to lock from inside. Our previous handle required key on the outside to lock and on the inside you would put the handle up and turn the other handle, no key required. Needing a key for both sides is incredibly irritating. It says this is for security so that people can't smash the glass and get in, but our door has no glass, it's just a solid door. I wish they had made this clear and provided options for both methods. My fault for not realising sooner, but now we are stuck with this door handle that cost a lot of money and I'm already annoyed about, and it's only been installed for an hour.I'll get used to it but I would prefer to be satisfied with the choice to go with these people.
