this extension has gone through all my data, and probably sold it too. not only is it a severe invasion of privacy, but i went through the permissions it had the other day and IT HAD ACCESS TO MY CAMERA AND MICROPHONE. i bring my computer home from school everyday, and the fact that someone could have just listened to what was going on in my home without my permission is really scary.

--here's a tip for principals: if you really want to block a site, do it through google. dont use this website, it steals all of your information and doesnt help anyone besides securly itself.

seriously, we need to do something about this. the school is probably looking at my screen right now and im definately gonna get talked to for writing this :/

Securely sucks SO MUCH. It blocks everything you could possibly imagine. It is so annoying and it does not even make school fun anymore (not that school was ever fun). If you were a teacher I would NOT recommend using this unless you want to be hated. Overall it does not deserve to exist. If you made securely and you are reading this just know that I think you made a bad decision.

Securly sucks so bad. admins go on power trips all the time and close tabs willy nilly. I am not lying when I say that they locked my screen because I was looking up myshakespeare.com for my literature class. Its difficult enough to use a piece of slow Chinese plastic (chromebook) to work on anything but securly is the straw that broke the camel's back. I have timed how fast these things take to open one tab of Google Classroom and it took 2 minutes and 10 seconds because securly spent most of that time scanning the page I open every day. I am in senior year now and have been hounded by this for too long. Tired of the constant craving of power.

Securly has invaded my privacy, tracked my location & sent my cookies & browsing data to 3rd party providers. I'm currently in school and no website is safe. Securly's lust for safety has made it impossible to use the world-wide-web on and has made it a tyrant.

Imagine trying to watch youtube outside of school and getting an email from your head of year asking why your watching youtube within 5 minutes and getting youtube just completely blocked. Yeah, thanks for that you stupid unremovable plugin.

I don't like this extension. It is a great idea, to ensure the safety of students when on a computer where you can access just about anything, however it is extremely flawed.

I was trying to access an educational website that contains a FORMATIVE math assignment, which is 60% of MY GRADE, and this website has been used in my school district since before I even entered kindergarten, yet was blocked, since it was an "Anonymous proxy". It wasn't blocked three days ago when I last tried to access the website, by the way.

It is late at night now, and at the time I last attempted to access the app. I was about to have a panic attack when those creepy gnomes popped up on my screen, staring into my soul with their corporate slop art style, bug-like eyes!

My heart was pounding, I closed my Chromebook, and I felt like there was someone in my room, watching me, waiting for the perfect moment to jump out at me.

I am being dead serious when I say it took me ten minutes to settle down. I had to actually picture that those gnomes were gnomes from a show I watch instead, say a prayer, and turn on the lights to calm down.

I knew it was the right thing to email my math teacher and make her aware of this, but she doesn't respond right away to emails and might put a zero in Powerschool for that assignment without knowing the issues I have had trying to access it.

I just can't wait to be grounded even more than I already am since I will now have yet another zero for an assignment I didn't do, but said I did. This time it isn't completely my fault! Thank you, Securly, for everything you do to make school as miserable as possible!

My overall critiques for this are to ensure that all things are blocked for a good reason, for example, games that are distracting, websites that are inappropriate, and social media, instead of blocking things for no reason, and please change the blocked screen. It is less creepy than that menacing stop sign it used to be, I will say that. Please just make it less of a jumpscare every time I unknowingly stumble upon a blocked website if you really must keep the gnomes. I don't like feeling like I am playing a horror game when I am on my school Chromebook.

In terms of trust, Securly as a company has been caught selling collected information(which is a lot, including mouse movements and keystrokes). Why do schools still trust them? Selling detailed data of children should have been the last straw to begin with! I have a newfound hatred of gnomes because I can’t use the iCloud website because of “Messaging services” even though I need it to turn in assignments because I use Keynote instead of Google Slides. It makes my browser(safari) run horribly slow(30-60 sec to load a single page) and really feels more like mal/spyware because it affects all devices on the internet. The service is server based which in turn means that they can collect all the data they want, and if they get hacked or become corrupt like we already know they are, all of your personal data is in the public domain. Do we see the issue in that? Honestly. They sell this crap to people who couldn’t care less about that kind of stuff. It’s an absolute surveillance state and it’s really creepy. You really can’t know who's watching. I genuinely feel safer on apps run directly by the Chinese government than on the web being watchdogged by Securly.

Grateful for the Opportunity Provided

I am truly thankful for the chance that came my way through the company. Previously, I was just a young person aimlessly bouncing around in a garden, surrounded by plants. Now, thanks to this opportunity, I get to engage with children daily, even if it means being a bit mischievous. This experience has been incredibly rewarding, and I really appreciate the platform.

This app is incredibly frustrating!

This app is truly disappointing and it makes me very angry! It's unbelievable how kids can't have any privacy these days. I'm exhausted by this app constantly blocking essential things; perhaps it should just block itself. Forget this service, it's terrible, and whoever created this app really missed the mark!

frustratingly restrictive

This device blocks access to nearly everything, even when I'm at home trying to complete tasks. It restricts non-harmful content simply because it doesn't relate to assisting or educating children. If a site doesn't meet that criteria, it's automatically blocked.
