If it was possible I would give the them a minus in star rating. We had our car insured by Go Skippy

If it was possible I would give the them a minus in star rating. We had our car insured by Go Skippy and the nearest supplier to us on there recommended list was of course Steer Cheltenham. When our vehicle was returned after they had repaired the windscreen, it came back with damage to the bodywork dented panel and chipped paint the dashboard had been damaged and the roof lining had been glued to the windscreen, they also sent us courtesy car damage report documents with what was supposed to be my signature neither of which document was signed by me but had my signature block, not sure what that was about but as it arrived after I complained about damage to my vehicle I have my suspicions. On the whole I would not recommend this organization to my worst enemy.

I took my 3 months old Tesla Model Y to Steer Doncaster following a relatively minor accident, trusting them as an authorised Tesla repairer.

Within minutes of collecting the vehicle, I identified multiple defects. The side camera is incorrectly fitted and not properly secured. There is visible panel misalignment and bending near the door/wing area. Plastic trims are poorly fitted. There are stains above the front speakers and dust left throughout the interior from the repair work.

This was a brand-new car. It went in with minor damage and came back with multiple new issues. In short, they have ruined the vehicle.

To make matters worse, the repair receipt even lists parts that are not present on this specific model, which raises very serious concerns about the accuracy and transparency of the work carried out.

Some of these concerns were raised at collection and were dismissed as “normal Tesla build quality,” which is simply not true. I have video evidence from when I originally collected the car new, as well as footage from before it was taken in for repair, clearly showing these issues were not present.

For a company listed as an authorised Tesla repairer, this level of workmanship and quality control is shockingly poor.

I would never use their services again and strongly advise anyone who values their vehicle to think very carefully before trusting this repairer.

Avoid!

I was unlucky be rear ended in my R56 JCW at a roundabout, the other party admitted full liability so I went through his insurance. My car was sent to Steer for repair, I had rear bumper damage, exhaust and scuffs on my boot along with a damaged rear diffuser. My car was promptly collected on the Thursday of the same week as the accident and came back to me several days later.I’ve owned my car for almost 8 years and looked after the paintwork, this car had spent most of the 8 years in a secure garage, only coming out for fair weather drives. So as you can imagine I was horrified at the condition for when it was finally returned to me.There were scuffs on every wheel from the low loader, there were 3 shadows in my paintwork on the passenger rear quarter panel, a bolt was missing off my rear diffuser, there was compound all over my rear passenger wheel, the interior was covered in filler and dust, the rear black beltline was missing, the worse being the car wasn’t cleaned correctly, there was filler dust still all over my car which rubbed into paintwork would cause swirl marks, the car was covered in finger marks, not well cared for at all.I contacted the insurance company and they engineers were involved, the car went back for rectification work, which they had for over 3 weeks!!!!So Steer clear of Steer!!, I would never use them again!!I had my accident on the 3rd of November 2025 and I’m finally getting my car back tomorrow 13th January 2026, just disgusting!

After the accident

After the accident, my insurance company instructed Steer Automotive Borehamwood to carry out the repairs. I have previously dealt with Steer Automotive at their Enfield branch, where a serious issue occurred: a member of staff smoked inside my vehicle, leaving a burnt mark on the carpet. I immediately raised this with Steer Enfield. Without my consent, a piece of carpet was cut from under the rear seat and fitted to the front. I made it clear that I was dissatisfied with this, and the manager at the time agreed that a new carpet would be fitted at a later date.Because my vehicle was already due to return for further repairs, I informed both Steer Automotive and my insurance company about the carpet issue. My insurance company agreed it would be sensible to address both matters at the same time to avoid unnecessary delays and to ensure I was not left without my vehicle for an extended period. It was therefore agreed that the vehicle would go in on 5 January, allowing sufficient time (over one month’s notice) for Steer Automotive to order parts and plan the work.Despite this advance booking, on 5 January I had to chase Steer Automotive to ask when my vehicle would be collected, only to be told they “did not have time.” No prior call or notification was made to me, despite the booking being arranged well in advance. As I had no alternative, I was forced to deliver the vehicle myself. On the day of drop-off, I spoke with the manager, Nick, and again explained the issue regarding the carpet. He told me to “leave it with him” and said he would look into it and contact me. My vehicle remained with Steer Automotive for one week, during which time I received no communication whatsoever from him regarding the carpet.During this period, I received a notification from BMW advising that a fault relating to the vehicle’s lights had been detected. I immediately informed my insurance company. On Friday, I received a text message stating that my vehicle was ready and being cleaned. I replied asking when I could collect it but received no response. I then checked online and saw that the branch was listed as open on Saturday between 8am and 12pm, so I attended in person. When I arrived, the reception was empty, and I observed multiple vehicle keys left unsecured and unattended, which is extremely concerning.I proceeded into the workshop area and was told the site was closed. I explained that I was there to collect my vehicle, that I am a disabled Motability customer, and that I could provide multiple forms of proof that the vehicle was mine. I asked if the manager could be contacted. After approximately 15 minutes, I was informed that the manager, Matthew, had refused to release my vehicle and instructed me to return on Monday. On Monday at 8:10am, I received a call stating that my vehicle was ready for collection. I explained that the vehicle should be delivered, as this is part of the service policy and particularly important given my disability and Motability status. From that point onward, I found the manager’s attitude to be rude, dismissive, and unprofessional.Overall, this experience has caused unnecessary stress, inconvenience, and a complete lack of confidence in how my vehicle has been handled. The original issue of the damaged carpet remains unresolved, communication has been extremely poor throughout, agreed arrangements were not honoured, and I have been treated without consideration as a disabled customer.

First Class Service from Steer Weston

All communication was very helpful and polite and the standard of repair exceptional. Although my car was away for 3 weeks, it was over the Christmas & New Year holidays so no complaint on that score. I could have had a courtesy car but didn't need one.I would recommend this company anytime.

First Class Experience From Start To Finish

I have had a considerable amount of work carried out on my VW T6 by the team at Steer Prestige Chippenham. For a little bit of context - I purchased the vehicle from new with money earned and saved, and I'm an incredibly particular and detail-orientated person, and the team at Steer have just completed the third lot of separate works for me.What they have done has consisted of brand new doors and large panels, that required spraying - to perfectly match existing of course - and subsequently fitting, ranging to fitting brand new small, intricate interior accessories which has included the fitting of a part inside the cabin which required the temporary removal of the headlining.Everything has been carried out with the level of care and attention to detail that has reminded me that there are in fact still highly skilled, very careful and extremely conscientious professionals out there and I can't be grateful to them enough for this. This includes everything from the communication interactions and discussions with the team, all the way through to the care after the completion of the work on the vehicle.I've had the pleasure of being looked after by Nicky, Nick, Jamie, Rich and Andy and they have all been fantastic and the whole experience has been first class.Thank you, folks - I am most grateful to you.Alex
