I have bought 2 phones on swappa with no problem, they arrived as described and promptly. But I just bought an ipad and totally got scammed. The seller disappeared and left a disconnected phone number and phony email. Swappa didn't do anything helpful- just told me to take it up with paypal. I will not use swappa again. Seems way to easy for sellers to scam buyers because of course they get the money first before shipping the item.
The platform is fine. It can be a bit confusing though navigating it. The fees aren't exactly cheap (10 - 12% total), but of course that's why they're in business! To help you sell your electronics goods at a cost! Their staff's usually pretty timely in answering or responding to your sale(s). I wasn't really thinking of (me) the seller paying for the shipping costs though. Suppose it helps entice buyers like everywhere else. Free shipping, yay! However, I used the discounted shipping through PayPal link. So, it was the USPS Ground Advantage and very reasonable costs. Recommend Swappa. Reliable.
Swappa was recommended to me, and I had the worst purchasing experience ever. First of all, this seller, “Kylie” waited till the last minute to ship the iPad I purchased from her. She had to be asked by me and the Swappa team to ship the item and then to post the tracking info. When the iPad arrived, it had not been reset, still required a passcode and I could not access the iPad. After lots of back and forth the seller agreed to give a refund if I mailed it back. I did, provided tracking info, and when it arrived I didn’t receive confirmation from Kylie for over two weeks. She stated she was out of town, would not confirm receiving the iPad until she was back in town, but failed to tell me this or arrange for someone to pick it up. When she confirmed receiving it, she asked if I(!) put a code on the iPad and asked why she was locked out! Swappa reminded her that this was the state the iPad arrived in. Long story short, she did not submit a refund, and I lost lots of time and $256. I gave the seller a bad review on Swappa, but I feel that Swappa should have done more to facilitate a refund. They told me to contact PayPal or Venmo, neither of whom gave me a refund.

The requirements for listing on SWAPPA are strict and protect both buyer/seller. Examples are; Serial and MEID# are all checked b4 SWAPPA staff releases the listing to go live, detailed pictures of devices WITHOUT cases or skins help to show any signs of damage or w-n-t. Swappa also provides current values based on market pricing, thus keeping the listing from being set at an unreasonable price.
SWAPPA is much more safer than eBay and FB marketplace when purchasing these used devices.
This is my first time selling on Swappa, and overall the experience has been positive.
The listing process was clear, and communication with the buyer has been smooth.
However, as a first-time seller, I’m experiencing some difficulty with PayPal funds being held, which can be a bit confusing if you’re new to the process.
That said, I understand this is part of PayPal’s protection system.
If the payment release process were a bit more straightforward for first-time sellers, the experience would be much smoother.
Overall, I think Swappa is a reliable platform, and once the PayPal process becomes easier to navigate, I would definitely continue using it in the future.
