Review Time
I recently bought a Sony FX3 from Ted’s Cameras in Sydney and had a genuinely great experience. I went in planning to just grab the body, but after explaining that I shoot a lot of on the go festival footage and car content, the team really took the time to understand what I actually needed.
They recommended the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II and a full Tilta cage setup to go with the FX3. Some people hate being upsold, but honestly I don’t care if I’m spending more as long as it’s for the better, and in this case it absolutely was. They explained properly why the 70-200 GM II would suit my style of shooting, especially for festivals where you can’t always get close to the stage. The reach, the constant f/2.8 aperture, and the sharpness of that lens make a huge difference. It’s also surprisingly light for what it is, which matters when you’re on your feet all day.
The Tilta cage was another smart recommendation. It makes the FX3 feel way more solid, adds heaps of mounting options for accessories, and just makes run and gun shooting easier and more practical. For the type of fast paced stuff I film, that extra flexibility helps a lot.
What stood out the most was that they actually listened and explained everything in detail. It didn’t feel like they were just trying to bump the price up. Every recommendation made sense based on what I told them, and I walked out feeling confident in the whole setup.
Really happy with both the gear and the service. If you’re serious about camera equipment and want proper advice, I’d definitely recommend Ted’s.

I ordered a camera back in November, and it still hasn’t arrived. Every time I reach out for an update, they just keep delaying the delivery without providing a concrete explanation. This level of service is completely unacceptable, and it’s incredibly frustrating. I’ve been patient for months, but this is beyond reasonable now. I do not recommend ordering from Ted's Cameras based on my experience.
I placed an order for an online purchase twice by mistake. Ted’s staff were excellent. They understood my request arranged a refund for the additional item and kept me informed throughout the process. Refund took 3 working days.
Ordered and waited a month for delivery of my Sony A7C II. There was no updates. my emails were being ignored. In the final months of December i finally reached them through chat and was told they are awaiting their Sony shipment and that once it comes, they will send out my camera. Still no ETA was provided, no email stating they have recieved their shipment prior to dispatch or no information while i waited. Communication was very poor.
I ordered a camera which was only available through their online store. Made it through the checkout process. Had the money deducted from my account only them to email me the next day saying it’s sold out? How do you manage to do that? Don’t advertise something you don’t have. They asked me to email them back asap which I did and it took them a full 30 hours to respond. I can’t even purchase a camera at a different store since I have to wait for my refund. What a joke.
Wanted to find out information on a second hand lens listed online, a Nikon 16 35 F4. Sent anonline query on Tuesday, then again on Wednesday and since there was no reply I visited TEDS Pitts St store today , Thursday. Apart from been treated like some sort of idiot be the sales assistant I was told that he could not help me and that I call the 1300 number. I asked him to do that since I had no success with that avenue of contact. He too failed and told me there was nothing he could do!
