Ripping off loyal customers who purchases bundles. They cancelled several pre-booked sessions before the ownership issue started due to schedule issues, after that they have refused to provide new booking or refund. The rest of my bundles where frozen during the summer and they gave 1 extra mth to use them but this is not acceptable as I am unable to use during the winter. Additionally I still cannot book using bundles due to an error. Total waste of space and rip off. They claim it's a favour to honour bundles, they however inherited the exiting bookings and are legally obligated to honour them. Not happy surfed there since they opened doubt I will again.
Since the new owners took over, the vibe is transformed - great service, happy and talented staff, lower and simpler prices - now great value. It is an amazing facility, the family (different surf ability) had three great days there over the last month...
The wave itself is wonderful - never disappoints my husband and my 16 year old son , they always have the best time .I feel that the wave is letting itself down unfortunately in quite a few areas. Loads of staff milling around most of whom (except a few who were on the ball) seem to be fairly clueless, lazy, stood looking at there phones etc! … computer says no, sorry , not sorry! One of the lifeguards was vaping which I thought was a bit unprofessional!Coming up from Cornwall or anywhere where else is an expensive trip by the time you have paid for everything involved in coming to the wave, fuel, fee, accommodation etc only to be absolutely screwed over by the prices of food and drinks at the wave! Absolutely shameful pricing, the food and drink on offer is expensive. I just don’t understand why there is not a greater range of affordable food and drink on offer? We decided to eat elsewhere as many will especially a family with more than one child! Which is a shame as we were all starving so it was also a bit inconvenient! I don’t like being a ‘Karen’ but I really feel that families should know this before going so that they can get stocked up with drinks and snacks before they go! In summary, the wave is great but the people behind it are being a bit greedy in hard times … if management don’t step in and sort out these fundamentals I give the wave 12 months at best … which will be a real shame.
Had a beginner lesson this week, and was thoroughly happy with the experience. We had two instructors with a group of about 10 or 11, including ~4 kids. For £40 you got half an hour land session, then an hour in the water, which seemed good value to me. The two instructors were great, very energetic, engaging, and friendly. They gave tips everytime you went around, and you could ask plenty of questions. There was a bit of queuing in the water during first few sets, but by the end of the hour it was fine, and I was too tired to carry on any way. Seems to be lots of negative reviews on the booking system and communication; it seemed to work fine when I just booked my follow up session, but perhaps my opinion will change with time. Seems odd the beginner session (without an instructor) is £5 more than the lesson. The walk from the car park is mildly annoying, as you have to factor in thetime, but it is only 10 minutes (someone on here said 20, but they must have been walking very slow) plus it does say on the website. Showers were hot, and you don't need any coins for lockers. Not sure if I'll take it up long term, as it's an expensive hobby, plus the membership bundles aren't available for purchase. Overall would highly recommend.
I was disappointed with my experience at The Wave. The communication during the session was poor, which made it hard to understand what to do once in the water. The initial lesson outside was clear and helpful, but once we got into the water, the instructors seemed disengaged and low in morale. The class size was far too large, which meant we spent most of the time queuing for a wave rather than actually surfing. On top of that, the session was mixed with both young children and adults, so the instructors focused mainly on helping the kids, while understandable this leaving adults with no guidance. For what was advertised as a beginner session, there was essentially no support in the water. It’s such a shame, because the facilities themselves are excellent and the concept is great. With smaller groups, clearer communication, and more engaged instructors, this could be a brilliant experience — but as it stands, it was very disappointing.
I had a beginner surf session. I had a surf lesson earlier on in the year in the sea where I got up to standing but couldn't balance. I assumed I would more or less pick up from there and hopefully get a bit of balance. The session didn't go well though and I didn't enjoy it. Once we got on the water no advice was given. On most my goes I came off the board very quickly whilst just laying down. I didn't know what I was doing wrong and no advice was given. There were 4 children in our group who couldn't stand up at the depth needed so were taking up a lot of the instructors time and they were paying little attention to how the adults were doing. Also being 16 people in a group I felt was too many. I can see why they can't give advice with that many people to look at. It also meant I didn't get many goes. I didn't count, but know it wasn't more than 10, probably less.My friend I went with is more natural at this sort of thing and was able to get up to standing a couple of times, although he said he struggled. And he remembered later on something he should be doing that he was forgetting. Why didn't the instructors notice at the time and give advice? Or if it isn't possible to see, perhaps give out reminders to people?I found the waves stronger than I have experienced in the sea and found the crash of the wave around me a bit much. Perhaps it would be a good idea to start of shallower to get used to it? That would have helped also with the children who were out of depth. But they should probably not be in the same lesson at all when they do become out of depth and not strong enough to deal with the current. At the deeper depth I was struggling with controlling my surf board while I was meant to be waiting, no advice was given on this whilst in the water. This was a very disappointing experience, and has left me wondering if I even want to surf again in the sea. And to be honest I was quite upset.
The jewelry that I bought was really pretty until it broke after ably two uses. I bought two bracelets and and both of them are now broken. Oh and neither of them have a stamp on the back indicating they there are not real silver, which is a big scam for the price they sell them for. Do not recommend go to another store. Do not buy jewelry from this boutique!
