We had an unforgettable visit to a charming establishment, celebrating a birthday. The food was exceptional, complemented by wonderful and friendly service throughout our experience. With five hearty appetites indulging in a two-course meal along with drinks, we were all thoroughly pleased — and at a total of £144.85, it was remarkable value for the quality provided. A big thank you to the staff for making the celebration so delightful. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful time at a local inn, celebrating a birthday. The food was exceptional, complemented by friendly and attentive service. Our visit was quite disappointing. We ordered a ham sandwich and a camembert sandwich, both of which were terrible in terms of value for money. The sandwiches arrived toasted, despite the menu indicating otherwise. The ham was of poor quality, and the camembert was subpar — not what you'd expect for the price. To add to our disappointment, the chips were not enjoyable at all. Overall, we left feeling let down. For such a lovely venue, the food did not meet expectations. I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for quality.
The service was very lacking. I was sitting under a cold air-conditioning unit but couldn't change tables due to our large group. I asked if they could redirect the air or turn it off, but no one returned after checking. Another staff member even suggested I do it myself, which was impossible without standing on a chair. Eventually, I had to turn it off myself. The food was decent, but the crab risotto was cold in parts, likely due to it not being heated properly. I wouldn't choose to return here.
We used to visit this pub frequently but were very disappointed on our recent visit. It took ages to get served, with only one person making coffee. The price for one beer and one lager was over eleven pounds, and while the food was okay, they forgot to bring out the curry sauce. The atmosphere felt very slow, as if the staff were not motivated to be there. It used to be busy on a Friday afternoon, but it was unusually quiet. I won't be returning.
The food was disappointing; the beef bourguignon was not what I expected. Instead of tender beef in red wine, I received stringy meat with large chunks of carrot in a watery sauce. The mashed potatoes were also too runny. After several years since my last visit, I found no improvement and will not be coming back.
I visited recently, having had positive experiences before. However, I was disappointed to find that most dessert options were plant-based, especially the ice creams, which are typically a palate cleanser for us. While I appreciate vegan choices, it's essential to have dairy options available as well. Unfortunately, we may be looking elsewhere in the future despite the beautiful venue and views.
While on holiday, we visited a local inn and were greeted warmly. We ordered drinks and decided on starters since we didn't need a large meal. My husband enjoyed delicious calamari, while I had an outstanding homemade mushroom soup. We chatted with the staff, especially a young lady who provided great local insights. We were so impressed that we returned two days later for the same soup, which was just as good. It was refreshing to be welcomed so warmly in a large pub.
