Update since last review: Art Marketing it appears may have taken over Thomas Kent Clocks .. they did compensate me for all the hassle which was great and explained that in changing over systems everyone who had ordered two of anything was receiving multiples of more in error.. just be aware that they do not have much in the way of staff at the moment hence the phones ringing out … however, with this and the clocks being far less quality than their price tags it’s sadly one i’ve had to cross off the list.. we have bought other clocks that were more expensive than these cuckoo clocks prior to this and they were also light and plasticky. Original review: not sure if they own other companies or as per usual in retail these days are more of an investment firm owning retail brands with zero knowledge about the retail industry. That comes across here , i ordered two of the rather overly expensive cuckoo clocks and was immediately surprised by how light they were, never a good indicator. The little bird is lovely , it comes out and makes a lovely sound, the colours are great, i ordered navy and taupe. However, the chime that hangs from the bottom doesn’t click into place you just have to loosely dangle it from a part inside so it moves about, not good, it feels very plastic overall and the worst part is the opening at the back is incredibly difficult to get your fingers inside which you have to do a great deal to set the clock and go through the painful process of it not going off at night by using a tiny wheel to move the hands which really hurts your fingers (esp moving it by 12 hours!!) designed for children’s fingers at best (btw my hands and wrists are so small i cannot wear bangles or certain watches, and i struggled!) the position of the third battery makes it so impossible i needed a pen to get it out so good luck changing the batteries. On top of this their picking dept keep sending me more clocks and no one is doing anything about it, i received four more in error and have had to stay in for collection today and make the phone calls to tell them i received them in error, no overly thanks for being so honest as i was not charged and they equate to £320! I now have another 2 arriving today so am having to make yet another phonecall, none of this work has been rewarded in any way, as far as thomas kent think i now seem to be an employee of theirs but unpaid. I left a voicemail last night to speak to the delivery company and stop their arrival today but no one has done that or even returned my call and they’ve been open since 9am and it is now 11am so the clocks are now arriving. No one in customer service is answering the phone probably because as often is the case now these jobs are working from home and i’m often finding you can’t get through or they answer the phone all rushed and with a ‘hello’ ie like they’ve just rushed in from the garden, funny how in really good weather it’s now getting increasingly hard to get hold of people during the working day. Don’t give lower labour jobs the work from home option the majority will abuse it…in short because they can and they have no career objective and no strong responsibilities that higher positions or those working on their own have. Tried calling this customer service dept teice this morning and no voicemail it just rings forever.. maybe when they’ve finished sorting the kids they’ll see fit to return to work for a couple of hours.
Bought our first Charleston clock from John Lewis, after 2 days kept stopping, used different battery's as per Thomas Kent customer services, still no difference.Returned to John Lewis who were out of stock so obtained another Charleston clock from another supplier, this lasted 7 days before stopping.A slight touch of the battery gets it going for a few hours then it stops again. My opinion is the battery mechanism is cheap and not man enough for the size of the hands.
I made a purchase for a mantle clock ready for a Christmas gift. When ordering there was no indication that this item was not in stock. When the item never arrived when expected I contacted you to be told there was no stock available and a new batch due 5/12/24. This date has since passed and still no clock.I have tried to contact you several times with no response. You have taken my money but not sent the items! This is totally unacceptable.
I’m reviewing the clock - Thomas Kent skeleton clock is a pile of…old bones. £95 but I’m pretty sure it costs £5 to make as these things just fail. The other companies selling them just ship out a replacement and don’t want the broken one returned. That says everything about the value of them. I’ve had 3 now. The big hand and mechanism is fragile beyond belief.
I bought a lovely Thomas Kent Clock a wee while ago. Nice colour ...smallish size to suit my bathroom. (Otherwise I can spend much too long in the bath!! ) I can review no further as I cannot get the clock out of the packaging!! I did injure my hand recently, however I have been able with some effort to open tin cans again. First of all its a very small screw driver which is required (unusually small- not one all households will have) ...I have tried turning both ways and it won't budge or show any sign of moving!! Just spent 25 minutes doing this...all to no avail!! Come on guys ... Is there any need for this to be packaged like it belongs in Fort - Knox?? Who designed this ? Who tested it?? What am I supposed to do now? Will try to attach photograph. 5 minutes later I managed to cut off the cardboard packaging! Screws are still on the back...but it is a cute clock Good size, clear face, nice colour. Will upgrade score from 1 to 3.
I’ve had two Thomas Kent clocks which always look so smart , but both have only lasted 3 years the hands come loose and the time keeping slows down , so unfortunately I would never buy another clock again from this make it’s so disappointing especially when they are not cheap
I'd long admired a particular style of Thomas Kent clock, so a friend bought me one in Xmas 2022. The clock only worked for about fourteen months. When I contacted them saying I had the guarantee but no receipt, as the item was a gift, they said they could not help and directed me to a clock repair company. I expeced some offer of good will, given the circumstances. The clock is now in the bin, so i guess the lesson I can take from this, is to avoid buying Thomas Kent products in the future.
I bought the 30cm Arabic wall clock which is attractive, but I was surprised to find that it’s just a very lightweight bit of plastic with a cheap battery mechanism on the back. The mechanism lasted for 5 years. I have other stylish clocks that were much cheaper, even allowing for inflation, with similar mechanisms that are still going decades later. I would have expected a clock of this price to last longer than 5 years. I phoned Thomas Kent for advice and they said they don’t deal with repairs and referred me to a clock repair company which they said I could send it to. I’m not going to that trouble and cost. All in all, style over substance and not worth the price.
I ordered two clocks to check the colors. I really liked the quality of the clocks, but I wasn't sure which color I liked best. I was able to return one of the clocks for a full refund, and the process was quick and hassle-free. I would definitely recommend Thomas Kent to anyone who is looking for a high-quality clock.
