I have been attempting to roll over my retirement account out of TIAA and it has been a nightmare. They have all the documents, notarized, but keep finding reasons not to complete the transaction. Every customer service rep is really nice but gives different instructions. It's starting to feel like they are being deliberately obstructive. It really shouldn't be so time consuming to get my money.

Difficulties with scheduling appointments.

I've been waiting for a response to arrange an appointment with a different member of the brokerage assistant team due to their unprofessionalism. I'm considering switching to another team because of the lack of communication and professionalism in the group I was assigned to. I've reached out to the team manager and a specific individual who is expected to handle these issues, assuming they are in a higher position. I'm extremely disappointed! I might have to look into changing my investments to another company.

Dissatisfaction with brokerage management.

I've been waiting for a response to arrange an appointment with a different member of the brokerage assistant team due to their unprofessional behavior. I'm considering switching teams because of the inadequate communication and professionalism in the group I was assigned to. I've informed the team manager and a specific person who is supposed to address these issues, assuming they hold a higher position. I'm very disappointed! I may need to look into changing my investments to another company.

Customer service leaves much to be desired.

I'm honestly shocked by how unhelpful and misinformed the customer service has been. Each time I called, I received completely different information regarding my account. Representatives assured me everything was set up correctly—only for me to later discover it wasn't. It seems no one understands their own policies. I've wasted hours being transferred between departments, attempting to resolve issues that shouldn't have arisen. For a company managing retirement funds, this level of disorganization is simply unacceptable.

Frustration with phone navigation.

I wish I could rate them lower. The automated phone system is a maze, making it difficult to reach a broker. The long hold times and poor control over financial transactions are frustrating. Overall, it's a very unfriendly interface. I'm eager to withdraw my funds as soon as possible.

Issues with distribution requests.

I arranged to take my required minimum distribution in December with explicit instructions to withdraw from two investments. A week later, I received an email stating the transaction was canceled at my request, which I never made. I checked my online account, and the transaction was still pending. After contacting customer service, I was informed of the cancellation without explanation. Although the representative claimed the issue was corrected, the transaction completed incorrectly. I can't rely on their emails or online information to be accurate, nor can I trust them to follow simple instructions or fix their mistakes.

Frustrating online experience.

If I could, I would give a lower rating. The website is confusing and finding information is nearly impossible. You end up going in circles without answers to basic questions about your funds. When you finally reach someone after long holds, they often lack knowledge about their own processes. If you want to manage your retirement funds effectively, avoid this company.

Negative investment experience.

I began investing years ago with this company due to my university's association. Recently, their performance has been poor, even failing to meet average market returns. I transferred most of my funds elsewhere, but they still hold over $100k of my money in an annuity I never authorized. They refuse to disclose the percentage I'm entitled to. When contacting customer service, I encounter unhelpful representatives who make empty promises. I strongly advise against this company.

Challenges after a loss.

After my father's passing in October, we have been trying to finalize his retirement funds. It's frustrating the misinformation we've received, with no action or results. It's disheartening! Please train your representatives and fulfill your commitments.

Extremely poor customer service.

The customer service experience is terrible, with long hold times and conflicting answers to straightforward questions. I've been trying to transfer an inherited account for over a year, but despite following their instructions, they keep rejecting the transfer for unspecified reasons. I'm currently on my 16th call, still waiting on hold much longer than promised. The lack of customer focus is ridiculous.
