Questionable product life. Good customer service.

Our experience with Remington products has been one of inconsistent product reliability and robustness, but Remington's customer services has been consistently fair and reasonable.Objectively: Feb 2024, Purchased Remington's "Shine Therapy Hair Straighteners", possessing a 5 year warranty.Jul 2022: "The product's power lead failed after 2 yrs 5 mths of daily use and a full replacement was issued with 3 years remaining of the warranty granted.Jun 2024: The replacement's power cord failed again (within 2 yrs of daily use). A second full replacement was issued with 8 mths remaining of the original warranty.Subjectively:It is such a shame that power cord replacement isnt available and is the least expensive part to fail.I understand the requirements of product safety and the infrastructure required to ensure that a product is safely repaired, sadly, may cost more than discarding and replacing with new. That is the biggest shame of our modern culture that really needs to change!Objectively:Purchased a 3000 series shaver in 2008. Whilst the head frame has become worn the shaver still operates, charges and retains charge perfectly satisfactorily.2018: Received a 3000 series shaver as a gift before deploying abroad.By feb 2024 the shaver regularly failed to start and there appeared to be increased resistance in the drive-train. Subjectively:It appears that the design of the older 3000 series model may have been far better than the newer model and rather a shame that parts were sufficiently 'facelifted' such that they were not interchangeable despite both harking from the same series.At least the new model did crawl over the 5 yr point, whereas the old unit is back in use after 10 yrs of previous operation and 6 yrs of storage as a back up!
