Awful
Awful experience and I hadn’t even got into the door. There was no talk on how much it would cost on the phone call, they also ignored what I said in the emails so how the hell are you going to listen to my problems? Don’t wast your time.
I was charged 4750£ for a 10 day stay at a UKAT facility . There was no therapy after 3pm except 2 nights provided free by CA an AAThe so called therapists had less training than my self one broke confidentiality from a face to face talk. The same therapist was very rude to me and half the group walked out in disgust at her attitude , the therapist with almost no training stropped out of the group leaving the remainder clients abandoned .
Late for group phone ban discussing when it's your only time to talk with love ones got a warning for making a female smile by touching her face very shy girl but she had no problem when I explained I had warning. I needed 5 days with no groups that I explained to my therapist Paul when first admitted Caroline just kept on that I hadn't attended groups. No keyring given as I was packing to go home food ok but experience not worth 8k. Not recommended
Linwood House Barnsley Ukat.Very poor experience and not worth £6.025 I paid for a 14 day treatment plan which was more like 12 days when you consider 2+ hours checkin assessment (arrived 2pm shown to room 4.40pm) and traveling home on the 14th day -your overnight stay is only 13 nights, and although you can go to groups and be fed on the 14th day I'm sure they realise most clients will have to set off early to travel home. Clearly a way for them to save money.Therapy groups mainly consisted of a different client each morning telling their life story of how their addiction has affected them or a client talking about their step work ( They use the AA/NA12 step recovery programme, one step completed per week of stay) which your therapist should explain how to do during your first one to one and within 48hrs of arrival but which never happened for me causing me a lot of anxiety. Due to being understaffed or just forgotten about I was not assigned a therapist to explain my care plan and what to expect (step work etc) until the 6th day ! -this led to a lot of anxiety but thankfully fellow clients helped me. Support workers were mainly ex "care home" staff mostly African nationals and paid minimum wage for 12.5hour shifts + having the responsibility to give out medication when they looked tired. Lovely staff but definitely overworked and undervalued.Avoid being accommodated any room numbered 5-9 upstairs or face being woke up at 6am each morning by clients going to the medication room. More workshops needed. Other than groups where clients tell their life story or step work there was very little else course wise and no exercise activities bar one weekly walk if they have someone to facilitate it.Don't waste your money going to Linwood...they will detox you and you will remain sober as you can't leave the place but it is not worth the money you pay ! I can see how it could actually make things worse for some addicts due to the lack of support. The 2 support workers who work evenings were rarely seen and usually sat in the office but what do you expect when they are only paid minimum wage, I guess some would want to do as little as possible.Big turn over of staff -a new manager every year for at least the last six years ! I guess they must use Linwood as a stepping stone to further their career. The current manager Amanda really nice but doubt she will work their for long due to financial constraints ukat are imposing -you get what you pay for staff wise....sadly clients don't get the level of service promised and not value for money for the amount of money it cost.Take heed of this review...I wish I had listened to my gut feeling having read some of the recent low scoring reviews. Save your money and look elsewhere or live to regret it.
I understand UKAT is an American company, and some persons involved have something of a chequered history in the USA.Holding companies seem interested primarily in their property portfolio. Not sure how good they are, but I really hope the NHS isn't paying for their services.
Absolute scam, I went into treatment for 4 weeks cost me £7,400 for 4 weeks.I’ve been here 4 days and I’ve had 2 sessions, I come here determined and a happy person. It’s absolute torture, they lied to me on the phone and said I’d have treatment every day along with 1 to 1 3 times a weeksThis is absolute lie, on the website and itinerary it shows a busy schedule and it’s been 1 “therapy” a day and then I’ve been sat on the kitchen of the building for 7 hours a day. Those 7 hours should be utilised in treating me.It’s literally a scam misold , mislead
The program and staff at the time were good rehab it’s a big deal ! If your at this point you need help so the actual before process very pushy all about getting you into a treatment centre this can be over whelming and I genuinely believe it very money driven, make sure you research and get the right rehab for you, then treatment and staff I would say good experience but you are in a bubble it’s very easy to abstain for 28 days when you do have support, then your let out ! Then the real work starts it’s very geared towards the 12 steps and meetings witch if I’m honest is helpful but not be the right road you have to find your way, the support package you get is basically somebody that rings you what every couple of weeks to ask how your doing tells you to go to meetings and sounds like they have no professional experience what so ever this I feel is just an after thought not really support. It’s seems to me very money driven I was encouraged to write a 5 star review before I left but to the point of it being very pushy. This is a pandemic of addiction and at the minute I don’t think there is a balance of the right institutions with the right conduct, if your going through stuff seek as much help as possible before you go in this is a high financial commitment to the point it’s made like that’s the only option very pushy to get you to sign up before you’ve had time to think and obviously your not thinking straight and most of the time your family are not due to the distress.
