We're a small business that has been with Square almost 5 years. We had a great relationship with them for 4 of those 5 years.Over the last year, they have refunded funds to customers and in the process broken federal law. I am a car dealer and customers only have 3 days to change their minds about purchasing a vehicle. 5 weeks after a deposit was made the customer decided he did not want the vehicle. Despite my protests, Square refunded his money.Another time, a custom decided he did not want to complete the purchase so I refunded his deposit less Square's processing fees. He complained so they went in my bank account and refunded his processing fees even though I protested this. Processing fees are set hy credit card processors not businesses. Those charges are fixed, set charges and my business is jot responsible for refunds on processing fees. It's up to Square to refund those fees but not from my bank account!Additionally they gave us a $13,000 loan which was paid back 8 MONTHS early. They will not give us another loan because they say we don't process enough transactions every month. We sell 8-10 classic cars per month. We have large transactions $1000-$5000 per transaction and sometimes our customers charge their entire purchase on their credit card. I've had $40,000 purchases charged to a card and I've run those through Square. Large dollar amount purchases should count for something but not to this unprofessional, crappy company.I have found another card processor with which to do business and they are happy to have me as a customer.
Unjustified Withholding of Funds for Over 3 Years – Terrible ExperienceI have been unable to access the funds in my Square account for over three years, despite no active disputes or chargebacks. The prolonged restriction of my funds has caused significant financial hardship and is completely unjustified.I’ve made numerous attempts to resolve this issue directly with Square, but they have failed to provide any explanation or timeline for when my funds will be released. This ongoing issue is a clear violation of my consumer rights and financial regulations.I am extremely disappointed in Square’s lack of action and transparency.Avoid Square if you value your money and customer service.
