Review Time
On 23-Jan-2024 I rang both Utmost and Reassure to withdraw the 25% tax free sum from my pensions with these companies.On 7-Feb the money from Reassure was in my bank account (and 1 week of that time was a delay on my part).On 27-Mar Utmost finally sent me the application form online and the paper copy has still not arrived.If you want an efficient company to handle your pension then consider Reassure. If you want a company where efficiency doesn't seem to be in their vocabulary, then Utmost is the one for you.
Had my equitable pension transferred there; I’ve since transferred it in (a rather longwinded process dictated by Utmost) to a SIPP in HL. Utmost has a very rudimentary website compared with more modern systems like HL or AJ Bell which are full of helpful advice: find that self investment is easy with the advice online with these two companies (HL and AJ Bell) and my investment is doing much much better!.. I’m in my 60s so it’s never too late to take charge yourself and give your pension a boost.
I was worried by some of the reviews here, that it would take a long time to withdraw funds. Happily, that was not the case at all. It took some time to submit the withdrawal form (registered post, next time maybe I'll send it by courier). Within a few days of delivery, I was asked to set up a security call, which was straightforward. Approx. 4 days later the funds arrived in my account in the EU. I can only assume that other reviewers did not submit the documents properly, or couldn't clear security for some reason. My few telephone interactions were all dealt with in a prompt and friendly fashion. I would be happy to recommend Utmost.
Generally good service except when the plan came up for repayment. The process is so long winded. To finalise I need to be glued to a mobile telephone that I emailed them. Not sure what the additional security is around that process is since email already is a view security method.
A frustrating poor company to deal with. Ever since I was signed up through another provider which became Utmost it’s been endless problems. Names change, access to funds change all resulting in several occasions when I have no visibility or access to my pension. To make matters worse their help team are absolutely useless and don’t respond to customers. An entire month this time with no access to my investments. I’m effectively paying fees for zero service. I am now looking to find a new company, had enough. Be warned this company is very poor.
