Review Time
I hope anyone considering to rent their property with Vacasa sees this post. Unknown to most... It is franchised per area, there is no standardization of business processes or quality standards. I have a fully renovated duplex in Fort Lauderdale less than 1 mile from the beach, very nice place. Vacasa did not screen any guests, didn't report damage or have it fixed, and lied to us consistently. Rental income of $25k for 1 year, for my $1.2m property!
I wanted to try Vacasa to manage two of my vacation rentals. Half way through the process on the first one they wold there Crystal beach portfolio to another vacation rental company. I went through with the second one and they failed to secure any bookings in 3 months when I had been able to rent every weekend historically.
This is the first time renting through Vacasa. The property was wonderful, and the description on the web site was accurate. Their reminders for payment and readiness for the vacation were helpful.
The problem was that I contacted Vacasa three times regarding the property. Each time they responded promptly. However, two times their answer to my inquiry was incorrect:
(1) The property advertised a fireplace. Before our arrival, I asked Vacasa if firewood was provided. They said it was not, and that I would have to supply my own. They said I could buy firewood nearby at Home Depot. I threw a couple of nights worth of firewood from home into the car before driving 2.5 hours to the property. When we arrived at the property, there was a shed full of firewood, and there was enough firewood already inside the house for 6 nights of fires!
(2) I also asked if the property supplied a sled for a parent to use with a young child. Vacasa replied and said there was not a sled. When we arrived, there was a perfect sled for a parent to use to pull a young child.
The third outreach to Vacasa concerned a coming snowstorm that was to occur the night before checkout. Vacasa replied, "... please note that our local team will do their best to clear driveways and home entrances from snow as they are able. However, please be aware that even a perfectly plowed road and shoveled driveway can have new snow dumped on it, or snowplows may kick snow back onto the driveway. Our home is also equipped with a snow shovel that you can use in case you need to remove snow."
When I noted that the driveway was over 100 yards long, they then responded more appropriately, stating they would follow up with the local team. The driveway was plowed early in the allowing for a timely departure.
In my feedback to Vacasa, I recommended that they do a better job providing accurate information to their rental customers.
This was our second visit in two years to Creek House. It is a beautiful and well stocked house in a gorgeous setting. You can hear the creek from every room of the house and we enjoyed fires in the den, on the porch, and from the fire pit in the yard. It's secluded, yet close to Cashiers and nearby hiking trails. It's the perfect place for a relaxing getaway in the mountains.
With the sudden shutdown of Puerto Vallarta Airport because of the cartel, we physically cannot get to our vacation condo we rented. We have paid in full. Vacasa would not refund us at all. Honestly i don't think this is a good business strategy of theirs. They know it is not the fault of the customer that they cannot get to their condo rental. Yes we did not pay the $1300 cancelation insurance. Which in our opinion should not cost 50% of the actual rental. We have no control of the unrest in the city, and it's in lockdown. I understand they don't want to loose revenue, but there should be some understanding of what has transpired in Mexico. They have our money and that's all they care about.
We loved everything about this cabin. It’s the perfect size for our little family. It’s in the perfect location. This was our 2nd time renting this cabin and we can’t wait to make more memories here again in the future. Highly recommend for a nice little getaway.
Great family spot
We were six adults and very comfortable and cozy. The view was amazing as was the sound of the ocean throughout the day and night. A lovely mix of comfort in a somewhat wild environment.
This house had everything! The setting was absolutely gorgeous and there were so many places to enjoy the view- a hammock, seating on the enclosed patio and a wonderful fire pit. Inside, not only was the place very clean and beautifully decorated but it was stocked with everything a guest could need. And it was all tucked away so organized and neat. I have rarely stayed at a short term rental that had so many thoughtful amenities. We felt very taken care of and enjoyed our stay so much. Highly recommend this place.
I truly enjoyed my time here; the check-in process was effortless as I didn't need to visit the front desk. They provided all the necessary information to access my room through email and text. The accommodations were very clean, and the view was stunning. The kitchen had everything I required, including a washer, dryer, and dishwasher. As an introvert, I appreciated the lack of a front desk, which allowed me to avoid unnecessary interactions. It was the best experience I've had!
If I could give a negative review, I would, as many others likely would too. The management of my properties was handled poorly. I entrusted a beautiful home in Texas to them, but they failed miserably with tenant screening. Some tenants caused significant damage, flooding the entire first floor. After a long struggle, they agreed to replace the flooring. Over two years, I dealt with numerous managers. They didn't have a reliable handyman, so I arranged for someone I knew to help them, but he was rarely compensated for his work. I've had the police called to my property multiple times due to tenant behavior. Damage was caused to my neighbor’s property, and they never compensated for it. They also removed the alarm system, leading to a break-in, and refused to cover the claim or replace it. Personal items went missing, and I discovered they had recorded numerous complimentary stays at my property without my knowledge. I lost significant rental income during this time. The last manager was helpful, trying to resolve the issues, but higher management refused to reimburse for stolen items, despite their requirements for property management. I strongly advise anyone in the Houston and Galveston areas to consider other management options. Communication was nonexistent from senior management, which made the experience even more frustrating. I wouldn’t recommend this company unless you’re prepared for trouble and poor communication.
