Review Time
A friend and I had a great experience with Vanity Studios shooting our cosplays. We signed up for a deal at MCM Expo and booked our shoot for a few months later. It was really nice to have our make-up done professionally by experienced artists, who took the time to look at reference images of our characters and matched the looks accordingly. Vanity Studios do offer hair styling, too, but as we were wearing wigs, we only opted for simple braiding. The shoot itself was fun and we were able to show off our cosplays against a variety of different backdrops. The final images came out beautifully and we were able to choose a selection from the overall shoot over a Zoom call a few weeks later. Overall, the shoot was an enjoyable experience with friendly staff and some lovely photos of our costumes. :)
An amazing experience. Great staff who listened to what you might like and spoke through what they were doing. Excellent make up and hair. Matteo was an amazing photographer, and made both of us feel very confident and comfortable. The pose suggestions were insightful and helpful. Angie was great whilst choosing photos.
I was very much impressed by the level of professionalism portrayed by the staff at the Studio, very friendly, and welcoming. The Make up artist made me look flawless and most of all the Photoshoot was to highlight my hair, the hair stylist was amazing. Photographer was very understanding of what I wanted and captured what I had envisioned.
We purchased our voucher at Move it 2022. Two Vouchers @ £60 each. When we were sold the voucher, it stated on the voucher: included in the £60 was make up, hair, photo shoot and 2 images. So, 2 vouchers purchased at a total of £120 = 4 images? The lady who sold this to us also confirmed everything. We finally booked our shoot, August 23 – upon booking we had to pay £50 per person deposit for the shoot, we were told this was to hold the date otherwise people would not turn up. I Paid £100 (me & my daughter) and my friend paid £50 (for her daughter). Quite a while before the shoot I cancelled just me having pictures taken however my daughter would still have the shoot done. I requested my £50 deposit refunded as I had I had given enough notice – to be told not we don’t refund deposits! It will be held in credit for you. Credit for what? What if we only wanted the 2 free pictures included in the original £60 paid? Throughout this time, I asked for pricing of packages and never received anything, not even included in their T&C’s.The day arrived for the photoshoot; we made our way to London – arrived at the studio. It wasn’t a pamper day as we were led to believe. The pamper part was hair and makeup – both done very quickly but still looked very nice, hair and MUA were very nice, chatty, and accommodating. We got taken downstairs to meet the photographer (Danny). He was great no complaints with him whatsoever! We were led to believe that we would have a viewing the same afternoon of the shoot however this wasn’t the case! We were told that due to unforeseen circumstances that we would have to come back or do a zoom meeting. But a visit back would be the preferred method! Bournemouth to London is not a particularly easy trip to make at the best of times so it would have to be Zoom. A week or so later I booked in with Molly, I replied to her email confirming date and time was fine. When the day arrived, I hadn’t heard anything so called only to be told it wasn’t happening, I think we had been double booked. So, I emailed requesting another date/time and heard nothing back. I called and left messages and guess what no call back. I chased again and this time let whoever answered the phone know that it was a bit disappointing. I got a call from Chevaughan to schedule a date and time, which was tonight @ 7pm. At 6.20pm Chevaughan had internet issues and wouldn’t be able to make it and the weekend would be better. I explained that my friend had arranged her day accordingly and was driving over so was very annoyed by this. By some miracle Chevaughan managed to get internet at 7pm. The call went ahead she showed us the images (2 seconds of each picture) 80 photos total in a slide show took around 1.5 minutes. Then comes the pricing I didn’t make a note of it but from memory I think the lowest priced package £350 - £1200 approx. Bearing in mind we bought two separate photo shoots at £60 each which included 2 images we were only allowed one. Apparently after you buy the photo shoot which includes the above, the terms and conditions state only one image. When I booked this, I explained we had bought separate vouchers but were happy to do the shoot together, this would save them time etc.as we were friends but obviously we would want to buy our own packages as even though the girls had pictures together the majority were on their own. When Chevaughan explained to us that we could only have a total of two pictures we felt this a little unfair and tried to explain what the voucher stated it was 2 each, she wasn’t really interested in what we were saying, told us that the T&C’s sent out with the booking confirmation states a total of two pictures not four! So not what we were sold. Chevaughan is apparently freelance so not able to do anything so ended the viewing. (not that 2 seconds for each picture gives you much time to decide)!Molly – Customer Service Manager would call me tomorrow 5th Oct 23, will see if I hear from Molly. Looking back, I would say Vanity studios are pushy and whatever they tell you is probably a lie! They are scammers as far as I am concerned. Anyone with any issues with this company should report them to trading standards! If only we checked out the reviews first, we would have saved our money and never bothered. It’s a real shame as I probably would have purchased extra photos of my daughter however, I will be asking for my deposit a total of £150 to be refunded and our two pictures that we are entitled to. Not holding my breath as have read so many reviews where people have not had their money back!
My sister and I had the best time today at Vanity Studios. From the moment we arrived, everyone we met was friendly, open, professional and kind. Andrew and Natasha (makeup), Selima (hair), Danny (photographer) and Angie couldn't have done more to make the entire photo shoot a joy. Anyone who may be a little daunted by the thought of such an experience need not be at Vanity. The end result was fabulous and we now have a selection of photographs we will treasure. A huge thank you to you all. Ali and Jenny
We had a lovely day from start to finish! Makeup and hair stylists took time and really listened to what we wanted. The photographer Matteo was really creative and put so much thought into the poses and lighting of the pictures. All in all was a lovely experience and would definitely recommend for lasting memories.
