The itinerary we chose took us to places we had never been, which is why we chose it, and the tours were outstanding. The Atlas Navigator is a beautiful little gem; there was a broad and interesting choice of food and drink; the service was excellent and very responsive. The choice of guides was ideal for our group of college alumnae from schools across the country. Most of our guides had strong and appropriate knowledge of history and how the combination of past and present fits together for their particular part of the world. They seemed to welcome our questions and respected us. Our Moroccan guide, Adman Ajobi, was a wonderfully positive person, and a wonderful 'teacher/guide' with a philosophical turn of mind that led us down many an unexpected and revelatory path to understanding of the culture and history of North Africa. Ad was with us throughout our tours in Morocco: Tanger, Casablanca, and Rabat.
We had a lovely trip to Portugal, Spain, and Morocco. The ship was very comfortable, the entire staff was friendly and very helpful, including tour directors, our steward, and waitstaff. The sites were worthwhile, though I would have preferred more down time, and the local guides were excellent. Our one complaint was that the food on this Atlas ship was not nearly as good as the food on the L'Austral, a Ponant ship, which we traveled with last year. We will continue to be on the lookout for more trips with Ponant.
terrific travel company: I hope I can go on another of their tours! So well-planned for the Iceland trip, a mix of city and country visits, lectures, one-of-a-kind experiences. The tour guide was astonishingly well-informed about all aspects of Iceland, including traditional music, which she sometimes played for us. Relaxed yet focused, she got on so well with the Gohagen administrator Rudi.
Trip itself was very good. "Rudy" was attentive and helpful throughout. Our experience booking our flights with Joy not so much. Also Islandair certainly lived up to its rep as a budget airline. Coffee, tea and water only things without fees, too little space from everything to aisles, under seat storage and room between rows
We aren’t tour people much preferring to be in charge. For multiple reasons, we ran out of energy to organize ourselves to see Milan & the Italian lakes. Enter the Gohagan university alumni opportunity. The tour guide, Danuta, was outstanding. Detailed and organized refusing to let a late participant impact the group. Activities balanced organized & free time. Local guides were superb. The hotel was good—perfectly located. Perhaps dinner food could have been better—but a minor concern. All in all, a very good value.
I purchased and paid in full in May for a trip to Iceland for Oct 11-19, 2025. Unfortunately, my husband had a massive heart attack on Sept 6 and was advised on Sept 16 not to travel. I immediately contacted our agent to see if we could get a refund or at least a full or partial credit for a future trip and was told "no" since cancellation was within 30 days of the trip. No where in our trip info was I made aware of the cancellation policy. I am extremely disappointed that we couldn't make this trip and disappointed that there was not a better outcome.
The overall trip was terrific. The various sites were all great.Rudy took good care of us. Lisa was fantastic, giving us so much good information about Iceland and each stop we made. Some did not have enough warm clothes for standing out to watch for the northern lights and got impatient with the rest of us that were enjoying the experience. Wish we had been warned about the price of food. Also a guide for some restaurants would have been really helpful since we were on our own for quite a few meals. The hotel accommodations were good although the rooms up north were very small.
The best tour I’ve ever been on. An educational tour with no wasted down time. We saw a lot of Iceland in a few days. Rudy and Lisa are the best guides. We left the hotel between 8-9 am every morning and returned around 5:00 pm so if you like to sleep this is not a trip for you. There is also a fair amount of walking so if you have mobility or stability issues you need to find a different tour. But if you really want to see a variety of sites in Iceland this tour is for you.
