It's incredibly hard to earn enough points to make paying for any of these cards worth it. Once a free trail ends on a card, AMEX will then renew it for another year but delay charging you for 30 days. So when that payment is taken technically you've had your 30 days to cancel. And therefore all you can do is cancel the remainder of the second year. I've never seen a financial institution try and trick me into giving them money in this way before. They've lost my trust and will likely never open an AMEX account again.
On the phone for like the 4th time in 3 months because they wont let me pick my own password and it boots you off and makes your reset password after 2 trys but it also wont let me pick a password that i can remember, i want my own password. In 2026 i should be able to have the responsibilty to decide my own password and determine whether or not its safe is my prerogative.
I thought using this company mean that I was protected. I purchased Australian Postage stamps was sent counterfeit stamps and once I found out from Australia post that they were fraudulent I begun the process of a chargeback from the company. With a mountain of evidence in my favor and proof of the fraudulent nature of the goods purchased, AMEX still decided to side with the company selling the fraudulent products. I will be taking this to AFCA!
I was happy with the service, but then they made it impossible to use on my phone, and i have been trying to cancel my account and card for hours, they have no clear way of leaving and all the help centre links just lead you in a circle. Horrible experience
One of the worst financial institutions I’ve ever dealt with. American Express charges excessive fees, provides terrible customer service, and has absolutely no flexibility for honest mistakes. They advertise “premium service” but deliver the exact opposite. Save yourself the frustration and choose another card.
The card works well when there are no issues, but the customer support is quite poor and unhelpful. I've consistently made my payments on time for a decade. I tried to stay current, but a banking glitch caused a delay in an extra payment, leading to a $29 fee on a $30 payment even though the funds were available when retried. I've never encountered such inadequate customer service with a card before. Additionally, I've noticed that many places no longer accept this card, which explains a lot. Be cautious as they also keep increasing your interest rate!
I made a purchase from this company without checking reviews first. The website appeared very professional and convincing. In August 2025, I ordered a pure silk shirt that looked appealing in the images. However, the shirt I received was nothing like what was advertised; the fabric and buttons were of poor quality, it clearly wasn't silk, and there were no labels indicating its composition or care instructions—both of which are standard on new clothing. The website provided no information about the shipping origin or return procedures. When I attempted to return the shirt, I was informed that I would need to send it back to the Netherlands at my own expense. I argued that it was unfair to bear return costs for an item that was not as described, but the company remained unyielding and reiterated their returns policy. I insisted on a return label, but they refused. I then contacted my payment provider to dispute the transaction, explaining that the item was not what I had ordered. They initially refunded me pending further investigation. However, six weeks later, I was informed that my account was charged again because the company provided their returns policy. I was told that unless I could provide proof of return, the claim would stand. This experience was very disappointing. It seems this company has found a way to sell subpar products while relying on a returns policy that unfairly places the return costs on customers, even when they send items that do not match their online representation. I'm also disappointed with my payment provider for allowing this company to operate under such terms.
While personal banking has been easy, business banking has been a complete nightmare. After relocating my business to a different state, the company has shown it cannot (1.) update the EIN number across my entire account and (2.) utilize a secondary EIN number for new checking or card accounts. Resolving these issues will take months.
Extremely disappointing provider with inadequate management. After reaching out via email and asking questions, I received no response. This lack of communication is why they have such negative reviews. I also plan to share my experience on social media to ensure others are aware.
