Review Time
I had high hopes for this insurance based on reviews and that it was affiliated with the ASPCA. PSYCH! It’s NOT! This is an advertising scheme! When I submitted a recent claim (February 2026) for my 11 month old dog’s illness that was denied, I called and was told that there was a 14 day waiting period due to new insurance (I’ve had and been paying this premium since August of 2025). I asked to speak with another customer service rep to get more clarification who told me something completely different. I then asked to be transferred to a supervisor who spoke over me for the entire conversation and then said, LITERALLY, if I had waited longer to bring my dog in for treatment, my bill may have been covered. I have paid over $800 and been reimbursed less than $100 AFTER paying $1800 in vet bills. Avoid at all costs. Lemonade has more comprehensive coverage without all the sketchy caveats. Don’t let these people take advantage of you. THIS COMPANY WILL DO ANYTHING TO NOT PAY. DO NOT RISK YOUR PET’S HEALTH BY USING THIS SHADY COMPANY
I started with this insurance June 2025. I've submitted two claims, nothing has been covered and I provided ASPCA with copies of all the history of my dog from the last 2 years at their request. I submitted dog history from the vet twice; October and again in November. They indicated on my login tonight I didn't povide the proper documenrtation. It's been 3 months and I've heard nothing. No email, nothing. I do n ot recommend this pet insurance; my last insurance covered within 2 weeks, were great with response. Unfortunately, they are not supporting my state any longer. I was forced to find new pet insurance and after research chose ASPCA. They have terrible response time, no calling, no email within a reasonable time period.
I have had ASPCA insurance since 2019 with my first dog and 2 dogs since 2020. Both insured as puppies. Neither have chronic medical conditions. I filed 2 claims. 1 ear infection and a skin condition. Since 2024 my cost for both went from $90 per month to $210. More than double. I was told this is due to age increase and increases can go from 4-26%. Well the math isn’t mathing. Beware that your rates will increase to a ridiculous amount despite your pets being healthy. I am insured 10k 90% reimbursement. I don’t even pay this much for my car insurance. It makes no sense.
After previously submitting a claim for our dog that was settled quickly, we're now facing significant challenges in getting reimbursed for a relatively small claim regarding the removal of a large benign lump. The representative informed me that the insurance required a complete set of medical records related to the claim. These records were provided by our veterinarian at the time of treatment and also submitted by us twice. Yet, after six months, we have received no reimbursement. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this service.
With 30 years as a property and casualty adjuster, I can confidently say this was my worst experience. I discovered that the insurance service isn't even owned by the associated organization but is managed by a third party using their name. I submitted a claim for my dog, which was denied on the grounds of incorrect filing. When I requested to cancel my policy, I was told to submit under a different coverage. After navigating through their requirements, my claim was denied again, and they refused to refund my policy upon cancellation. I strongly advise against using this service; it feels very untrustworthy. My previous experience with another provider was excellent, so I’m opting to cancel my policy today.
I had coverage for two years, and my dog experienced her first seizure a year into the policy, which they covered for the initial visit ($180). However, when she had two more seizures eight months later, the vet expenses were much higher, and they denied coverage, wrongfully labeling it as a pre-existing condition, even though they had covered it before when the bill was only $180. This company seems eager to take your money while your pet is healthy, but will abandon you when you actually need help. UPDATE: I contacted the number provided in their response to discuss the situation further, and they admitted they had made a mistake covering the first seizure visit. So not only will they deny you after reaching your deductible, but they will also claim internal errors to refuse any future claims when you need to use their benefits. Extremely unethical practices. They even dismissed their CFO in March '25 for whistleblowing on their dubious tactics regarding claim denials; you can find information about "Gordon Lavalette" online.
Service is ridiculously slow despite their claim of quick turnaround times, and they denied my first claim, saying it wasn't covered because it took place during the initial 14 day waiting period (it didn't, coverage started Sept. 27, the vet visit was Oct 13). Not a great start, wish I had read the reviews a little closer. I understand insurance is the biggest fraud going today, but this is still disappointing. I'm just finding this out halfway through November.
My experience has by far been very difficult and has been an extremely long process. I purchased this insurance for my puppy who at the time was 3 mos old. I took him to vet to get shots and we’ll check. Well now this company is asking for his itemized report from 11/2024 and my pet was not even born. I do not recommend anyone to purchase this health insurance as it has been 10 days and I still have not been reimbursed and still counting. I still have hope that there is better insurance for your pets out there.
If I could give less than a star I certainly would. We have had this insurance and paid almost $500/year in premiums for the past five years, and when we finally went to use the insurance for the first time, they denied us like all the reviewers before us: they now consider ligaments illnesses. Yet they continue to sell the accident policy with the language that ligaments are covered (Our original policy even suggested they'd cover up to two! With accident only coverage!). That language is still in the accident only policy, yet they will decline your claim and state that these are now defined as an illness. We had a dog running healthily a week prior to his accident where he could no longer walk, and they will say that this "disease is intermittent and degenerative." BUYER BEWARE. They will find a way to reject your claim.
