I would highly recommend Barnshaw Pet Crematorium for anybody who is looking for people with empathy to handle their beloved pets in a respectful way. What I really like about Chris and Di (there are no other staff, just a husband and wife team) is that they are animal people. They have ponies, sheep, chickens and four dogs. So they understand how people coming to them will be feeling.It feels like a very personal service. We were given our old girl's ashes and paw print in a bag with a heart label with her name on.I would highly recommend as it is also such a lovely setting.
I would like to express my gratitude to Chris for his bespoke service. It was a huge shock for all our family to say goodbye to our much beloved elderly cat. Chris at Barnshaw was unbelievably emphatic which made this unbearable journey a little bit easier. The care we received was very much appreciated.
We as a family honestly can’t thank the amazing couple that own this business, I couldn’t have wished for a more dignified and comforting last journey for our darling pooch. We felt so completely at ease and comfortable sending her with these lovely people.Kept us informed throughout everything, honestly couldn’t of asked for anything more for us as a family or our beautiful honey.
Our handsome boy Gizmo had been part of our family for 9 years. Gizmo bought lots of joy and love to our lives, we have lots of fond memories, he was a character who loved to bring presents into us in the middle of the night.We contacted Chris by phone to find out, so more information and he was so caring and helpful regarding our needs. When we took Gizmo to Barnshaw we knew that he would be in safe hands, Chris was very kind and caring and handled Gizmo so gently, we were asked if we wanted Gizmo cremated with his favorite blankets which we did, Chris even let us put Gizmo’s favorite cat toy with him and even lifted up his paws so I could place it between them. We were given the chance to say one goodbye to Gizmo with strokes and a kiss. Chris reassuring us that he would look after Gizmo.Chris text us confirming the cremation had taken place and we collected Gizmo the next day where we met Di. Gizmo’s ashes were safely tucked into a bamboo pouch with a little blue bow round it. Thank you for the extra’s a beautiful, engraved heart with a bow and a card.Thank you to Chris and Di in our hour of need, you showed us so much compassion. You are both very caring and kind in our time of need. We would thoroughly recommend your services. Sam and Brian
Unfortunately, we have had to use Barnshaw twice this year. However, the care and kindness shown to us on both occasions made this sad time easier to bear. Very good service and lovely to have our dogs home with us within a few hours. We would highly recommend Barnshaw to others going through the loss of their loved pets.
3 years ago we had the most traumatic experience with our cats cremation via our vets. On Monday, we knew the time for our beloved boy Felix had come and the thought of a repeat experience was awful and prompted me to look online - where I found Barnshaw. This time, our Felix passed away peacefully in my arms and we took him away from the vets to say final goodbyes. My son and his partner drove to Barnshaw and although upset - couldn't praise Di and Chris enough- as they took Felix with dignity and compassion. He was returned the next day and the small but poignant touches that Di and Chris add, make a difficult and upsetting time just that little bit better. We sadly lost our bulldog late on a Saturday afternoon but wanted to keep him at home for the night. On the Sunday morning we phoned Barnshaw and they were able to cremate our dog the same day. We were heartbroken with our loss but when we arrived Di was fantastic. She showed compassion and sympathy. She explained the procedure which put us at ease and seeing how clean the cremator & equipment was reassured us that we would only receive our Shanks ashes. She took a lovely paw print for us and also cut some of his hair for us. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Di knew how much we wanted our Shanks back home and was delighted when she said we could collect his ashes the same day. We received his ashes in a beautiful casket with an inscription we chose and our dogs paw print so professionally done by Chris. They are truely amazing in what they do and the care they show to the owners and animals is phenomenal. I would highly recommend Barnshaw Pet Crematorium to anyone who is unfortunate enough to lose their beloved pets. I wouldn't take my animals to anywhere else now I have experienced the care and compassion shown by Di and Chris. Thank you for helping with our loss of our Shanks.
