These drivers would be dangerous if they could communicate anything beyond "I'm in a rush". Three driver changes on the EXPRESSWAY bus and not a single one could be bothered to even call back "lads we're stopping for a few minutes". Additionally pulled away before I and others were fully seated, and I am a full-time mobility aid user with a physical disability, and the first driver genuinely seemed like he'd never driven outside a city with the way he handled rural roads.
My daughter goes to a local college, but the town has very few bus connections to nearby towns. She has to take a bus to a different location just to catch another bus to her destination. This often fails, leading me to drive a long distance to pick her up. She and other commuters are left waiting in the cold for long periods. Recently, I had to drive to the city center late at night due to another bus failure, leaving my son stranded for hours. I would caution anyone considering a night out in the city relying on this bus service. Overall, it has been a very disappointing experience, and perhaps we need to reconsider the need for bus lanes that appear to be ineffective.
My daughter attends college in Dunboyne, but the town lacks proper bus connections to other areas in Meath, except for one to Clonee. She has to take a bus to Clonee just to board the 109 bus to Kells, which frequently fails to arrive. As a result, I often have to drive 50km each way to pick her up, leaving her and other commuters waiting in freezing conditions for hours. Just last night, I had to drive to the city center at 2am because the 109 bus didn't show up for my son, who was left waiting for an additional two hours. I would advise anyone planning a night out in the city using this bus service to reconsider. The service is abysmal, and perhaps it's time to reevaluate the usefulness of bus lanes that seem to be underutilized.
The main issue I have is the temperature on these buses. Currently, I'm on a bus from one city to another, and it's -2 degrees outside, yet the air conditioning is on. This was also a problem last week. Do the drivers feel warm, or do they have their own heaters near their seats? I don't understand why the heating can't be turned on when it's so cold outside.
The experience was less than satisfactory. If I could rate it 0 stars, I would. On November 17th, 2025, the bus did not reach the school, leaving many students stranded, while the next bus was also canceled. How can people rely on public transport if it simply doesn't arrive? Improvements are needed.
The expressway bus to the airport is unreliable. Staff at the depot confirmed that this happens often, so customers should be cautious, especially if they have flights booked. I have yet to receive a refund or an explanation for the bus not arriving. It has been a stressful experience trying to arrange alternate transport for a long journey to the airport.
