We ordered two lots of the Lorne Sausage and am afraid to say it was appalling. Full of gristle, I mean you had to spit it out, and tasteless. I had the same sausage in 2020 at a friend’s and the difference in quality is dramatic…..would not recommend it at all !
I have been getting my butcher meat from campbells for several years now, after a while I joined their "gourmet club", which gives me a free box worth upto £120 with every £690 spent, this worked ok for a couple of months, then the "progress bar" dissapeared and there was no way of knowing if I was due a free box, so i messaged, and got my " free box" with my next order, next time I asked, I was too late, then again the same, this went on for months, then I asked if I could have my free box delivered with my next order, yes, but it didnt turn up, was told I would have to ask for it again before my next order, for it to be sent with that, I am now due something like 3 free boxes, 1 of which should have been sent with my last order, I will now have to wait til my next order and ask again at least a week before its due.Their excuse is that the "progress bar " is not working and their team has been working on it and it shouyld be fixed soon, it has not worked for nearly 3 years now, so what are the chances.I will be making sure I get my missing free boxes then ending my subscription and going else where
Really disappointed, steak lorne should be called gristle lorne. Never seen steak lorne/slice with quite so many large chunks of gristle and fat which doesn’t cook down.Black pudding full of strange strips of gristly inedible white stuff, not fat.Sadly both are going in the bin, shame as the flavours are really nice but it’s just inedible with so much gristle
In terms of buying from Campbells they were great rearranging my delivery. But the packaging is awful - so much I had to just throw in the waste, not recyclable or biodegradable. And I’ve just defrosted some of the sausages for dinner - was excited for good quality sausages only to see they’re ONLY 32% pork!!!!! That’s worse that cheap bangers from the supermarket. Won’t be buying again.
Quality has fallen & prices doubled in last few years. I ordered based on quality of goods when working in a commercial kitchen. First couple of orders were excellent. But now rapidly went downhill. Too much gristle & fat, even in basic sausage & burgers! Go to your local butcher.
We haven't tasted any thing up to now, Scotch Pies, a Pork Shoulder and hefty chops and a black pudding I couldn't resist but looks great. Incredibly well wrapped and delivered by DPD (they let the side down by delivering to neighbour as couldn't see the prominent two-way video doorbell. We live above retail premises) Campbell's though great service couldn't be better also less delivery charge the more I ordered
