Ordered the trout fillet for Good Friday, payment made, dispatch email sent indicating order was on

Ordered the trout fillet for Good Friday, payment made, dispatch email sent indicating order was on its way, when it arrived found a note inside the box saying it was unavailable, responded to their suggestion to contact them, so I did, the response was a basic "Ohh well sorry" here is your refund
I asked why they couldn't email me at point of purchase or soon after to say its out of stock so I could make alternatives in time for Good Friday, Poor customer service

champions of Sottish produce...NOT!

So they champion Sottish produce, Scottish farms and Scottish butchery. Not in my order they did'nt. Whole corn fed chicken from France, unsmoked back bacon from the Netherlands, beef from Ireland and chicken thighs from Romania. Wonder where their haggis comes from, probably England. Nothing Scottish in my order.

For the most part, excellent.

I started my relationship with Campbells last November and for the most part, I am highly satisfied. The first products I ordered were three different cheeses, Arran smokey Garlic Cheddar, awesome. Higland Fine Cheese Black Crowdie, different but none the less very tasty, all excellent apart from the Strathdon blue cheese. Wasn't to keen on the taste of that compared to the other blue cheeses I have tried, but each to his own. Also in the pack was the Breakfast essentials bundle, pulled pork, pastrami and a free Lorne sliced sausage. Was disappointed to see that the Lorne sausage in the bundle had less than 40% meat in it but it was quite tasty unlike the sliced Lorne sausage with the high meat content. It wasn't bad but nothing like the ones I have tasted actually in Scotland. The bacon and sausages were nice enough without being spectacular. One point, there wasn't hardly any shrinking of the bacon after it was cooked indicating a low water content, excellent. The haggis and black pudding in the bundle was superb as was the pulled pork, nb. it doesn't come with any sauces which the photo hints at but the literature doesn't. The pastrami, oh my word the pastrami. Out of this world. My next order was a ribeye steak and some Gold Premium dry aged steaks. Best goddamn steaks I've ever had and I have been to more than a few high end steakhouses, so juicy and very tasty. In that order I also had some steak and blaggis pies, what a find, really nice. As I so loved their products I ordered the Turkey Breast Christmas Hamper. Turkey was fine, the pigs in blankets and turkey gravy were sublime, the pork sausage meat was responsible for the best sage and onion stuffing I've made. The ham was very nice but the fat had been removed for the most part. Definitely ordering the same next year. Just had my latest delivery, more of the gorgeously tasty pastrami, some Cumberland rings, large pork sausages chicken thighs, which were very nice with hardly any water, and some steak, haggis and peppercorn sauce pies which were out of this world better than the blaggis ones imho. They out did themselves with these. The last item was some more bacon. Oh dear! Where's my bacon? Contacted customer services by email and within 5 hours I had a reply where it was all sorted. So 5* for customer service and their willingness to accept my suggestion. Will write a different review for the sausages. All in all, fantastic. OK. Had the Cumberland now, Ok but not the best Cumberland I've had. Hardly surprising as there's only just over 30% meat in it. You would expect better from a butchers.

Stock issues

I placed an order for a specific product but was limited to a minimum order value for free delivery. They then wrote on the day of dispatch to advise that the product wasn't available. Very disappointed. Will not order from them again.

Delivery did not arrive

Delivery did not arrive. No customer service!Tracking for package also did not work - DPD stated post code was incorrect.Customer Service do not respond to requests for help. There are better and more ethical suppliers out there. Seems company was taken over by a larger one. Clearly customer service is not on their agenda. AVOID this company. The response asking me to write to their address at info etc etc is ridiculous. I had already written to that address and received NO REPLY. The order number was Order CPM-58458

Disappointing Rib Eyes

We took advantage of an on line offer from Campbells Steaks, and so based on reviews, we thought we would give this on line butcher a try. Sadly, we found them very disappointing. We buy and cook rib eye steaks regularly, from farm shops, independent butchers and some supermarkets, so we know a good rib eye. Ours from Campbells, were not good rib eyes.On unpacking the chiller box, which arrived promptly by DPD and was suitably chilly, the steaks looked unattractive and "squashed" as they had been vacuum packed. They did regain some depth once unpacked and allowed to rest, but they were still thinner than we would normally purchase when we choose the cut.We cooked them exactly as we would every other rib eye, allowing for tge slightly thinner depth, and although they looked good once cooked, we both found they had no flavour. None at all. We could have been eating any type of steak and certainly not a prime cut rib eye steak, selling at a premium price.Despite subsequent discount offers from Campbells, we will not be placing any more orders.
