Unstable, full of bugs, and with serious security issues.

It feels more like a risk than a tool. I’m trying to report bugs because I literally can’t work — both the Mac app and the iPhone app are completely broken, and there’s no real way to communicate with support.

It’s honestly embarrassing. You pay for a service and end up with no service at all.

Too many changes in a short time, without a news log for the user? Users aren't informed at all about what's going on; the subscription model doesn't seem to be active right now, but it's being advertised?

What a mess.

I like the idea of free generation, but the whole thing is currently far too opaque.

I paid for CapCut Pro based on the features that were available at the time, including AI video generation and longer video creation tools. After paying upfront for a year, those same features were either restricted, capped, or moved behind new limits and paywalls.

This feels like a classic bait-and-switch model: attract users with powerful tools, take payment, then change the rules after the refund window closes.

What’s most frustrating is the lack of transparency. Core functionality was changed after purchase, generation limits were introduced, and features that justified the subscription were effectively downgraded. This isn’t an upgrade — it’s a downgrade after payment.

I would not have subscribed if these restrictions existed at the time.
Trust is everything with creative platforms, and once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Not recommended. I won’t be renewing.

I’ve been a long-time CapCut user and, until recently, I would have recommended the app without hesitation. Unfortunately, my recent experience has completely changed my view, particularly around pricing transparency, customer support, and overall app stability.

Firstly, the subscription structure is incredibly unclear and misleading. The Pro version is already around $30 AUD per month, which is not too bad. Naturally, you would assume that the Team version would include Pro features with the ability to add a team member. Instead, CapCut treats them as entirely separate products. To simply add one seat for my husband (who occasionally helps edit videos, on his own computer and account), I was expected to pay $35 AUD for Teams on top of $30 AUD for Pro, totalling around $65 AUD per month. That is excessive, poorly explained, and feels like a blatant cash grab.

On top of that, I was charged twice for the same subscription period. Despite clearly explaining the issue and providing the required information multiple times, I was stuck in an endless loop of automated responses asking me to repeat myself. I never spoke to a real person, never felt heard, and ultimately never received a refund. To then receive an email stating my issue had been “resolved” and asking me to rate the experience was frankly insulting.

The app performance itself has also gone downhill. Captions take an unreasonably long time to load, the app frequently freezes, and editing videos longer than 10 minutes often causes crashes. This is happening on a high-speed MSI gaming computer (Core i5), so it is not a hardware issue. For a premium-priced editing tool, this level of instability is unacceptable.

Charging professional-level prices while delivering unreliable software, confusing subscription tiers, and fully automated customer support shows a serious lack of respect for loyal users. Judging by the number of similar reviews here, these problems are clearly widespread.

It’s genuinely disappointing to see a product I once relied on decline this badly. I will be moving to an alternative editing platform that offers clearer pricing, better performance, and actual human support when things go wrong.

They took money off of me for a subscription - after months of arguing, going back and forth with them and the bank, I was basically told to get over it. The customer service is horrible; they didn't even care to resolve it until 2 months later when I got the bank involved.

I’ve had a terrible experience with CapCut. I’ve been paying $19.99 for CapCut Pro for four months, and without my consent, I was charged an additional $24.99 for the past three months.

Customer service responded very late and never addressed the extra charges properly. I even contacted my bank, and CapCut team got a response recently.

What’s worse is that my subscription is still valid until mid-February, but I can’t access Pro features and I’m being forced to renew early.

This has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.

Do not learn this application. It’s genuinely awful.

It constantly crashes, lags like crazy, and logs you out of your profile for no reason. Saved settings and features regularly disappear, forcing you to reload the entire app or even restart your computer just to keep working.

I originally chose this software when I started content creation because it looked simple and beginner friendly. I stuck with it only because I got used to it and didn’t want to invest time learning something new yet. That’s the only reason I still use it. I absolutely do not recommend it.

On top of all the instability, you can’t even keybind basic features that you use dozens, if not hundreds, of times per video. That alone makes no sense for any modern editing workflow.

If you’re starting out, skip this entirely and just learn something actually reliable and industry relevant like Photoshop or similar tools. You’ll save yourself an unbelievable amount of frustration.

Frustrating limitations on exporting videos

I need to log in and pay to export my videos. It seems that the "Free" option really requires going "Pro" for a basic feature like exporting, which is essential. This experience is similar to the limitations faced by free users on a popular music streaming platform.
