Review Time
Like many others, I had a 4 weeks trial (and read the T&Cs) but naively thought they would send me a reminder before charging me for the yearly subscription. I haven't used the app during the trial as I was busy with other sports and ended injuring my wrist. I contacted the customer service within a few minutes of receiving the notification from my bank that I was being charged, explaining in good faith that I never used the app and had an injury. Like others, they shoved the T&Cs in my face and refused to refund. It took quite a few emails back and forth and escalation on my end to eventually get them to happilly offer a refund if I was providing a medical certificate for my wrist injury (which I did within minutes as I already had one for my gym membership).Of course their reason for refunding me had nothing to do with my wrist (as they would have offered it after my very first email) but just couldn't bother getting it escalated. They didn't even respond when I sent the certificate. I had to chase them 3 days later to make sure the money was being refunded. On all the emails, they have absolutely never addressed my concerns regarding the lack of reminder and their terrible customer service.I've worked for over 8 years in this field, selling from mid-range to luxury services. None of the companies I worked for would have taken money without several warnings prior to the due date. None of the companies I worked for have kept the money when the clients cancelled on the same day they were charged, even though deposits were non-refundable in our T&Cs. T&Cs are important for a business and should be read by customers but good companies do care and are fine moving things around when needed. Mistakes/emergencies/unplanned issues can happen and they get it (up to a certain point of course). There is no point keeping a customer who is not happy! I have acknowledged that it was my mistake I didn't cancel but they absolutely never acknowledged doing anything wrong, or that they would take the feedback to improve their systems. I was told over and over that I was the only one in the wrong.Automatic reminders prior to a payment are stupidly easy to set up. They know exactly what they are doing and their business plan is completely based on shady practice to get people paying for something they actually don't want. I can't support that and I can't even comprehend that a famous actor would accept to be involved with this.Once my wrist is healed, I'll go back to the app I was using previously.Edit following their response (1 month later): where did I ever say their T&C's and response was incorrect or unclear? Once again they do not address the actual complaint which is the lack of reminder (super shady when you don't offer any flexibility or refund option) and their complete lack of empathy (big issue when you work in customer service). + The lie on the reason for "happily" refunding me (why waiting 4 or 5 emails to refund for a reason stated in my very first one).
I wish I went on Trust Pilot before I signed up for the Centr.com trial. Chris Hemsworth’s business, Centr, offers customers a free trial to their wellness service, with the attempt to hook them at the end of the trial period. I attempted to cancel for 3 days before the trail was ending and the website was down, relaying a “ooops, something went wrong, try again” error. Then I managed to cancel, but I cancelled on the last day of my trial and the money had already been taken from my account. When I emailed customer services and explained I could not cancel and I wanted a refund, now that I managed to cancel, they said they do not process any refunds, for any reasons, basically. They quoted their Terms & Conditions, where they cover their backs against any accidental renewal of subscription, to ensure they don’t give you your money back. I specifically explained the situation and that I’m not interested in using their service and they kept the corporate line that they don’t do refunds. Stay away from this service, if you’re not committed to using it. If you’re only trialling it out, make sure to cancel that trial 24 hours before the trial ends, because that’s how they manage to suck customer’s money from their bank accounts. I wonder if Chris Hemsworth is aware that this is the business model that Centr is adopting. Shameful how they treat potential customers. I would have joined their service in a few months, when I was ready to commit, but now I know to stay away.
A scam = when money is taken from you and there’s NO WAY of getting it back.I cancelled my subscription and was offered another 14 days after the 4 week trial finished. I had cancelled (or so I thought), so I clicked OK, expecting it to just expire at the end of the extension. Two weeks later, with no warning (OR receipt), I was charged for a year’s membership!!I contacted support, but they just kick out their standard, patronizing legal email telling me to -“enjoy the year’s membership”, with no mention of a refund, as apparently they don’t give refunds for ANYTHING - even if accidentally push a wrong button! They constantly refer to their T&Cs to wriggle around issues. When Chris reads the membership figures, is he aware of how many have been duped into joining, fleeced of cash and will NEVER renew? Terrible business model relying on conned, unhappy members to provide their business revenue..these are predatory tacticsThis is a black mark on “Brand Hemsworth”. and living in Byron Bay, where he is, if see him in the street, I’ll be sure to let him know what’s going on. (Btw, I'll bet neither he or the team are aware of the collection agent’s unethical practices)This is my first post about this, but this week, as well as contacting my bank and the Australian Consumer people (ACCC), I’m finding plenty of similar sites to this one, with disgruntled people like us - I'll just keep posting to them. (and of course, I’ll blitz all my socials). If I can save just one person from having to go through this BS, it will all be worthwhile. *****Stay well away!!!***** Do not start the trial - I deeply regret I did - no money back for you, sucker….PS. If Centr do respond to this, guaranteed it will be along “we acted within our terms and conditions blah blah blah”A scammer can make their own terms and conditions too, doesn’t mean they’re fair or just…
Terrible customer service. I joined under the 4-week free trial and canceled my subscription the next day. Yet at the end od 4 weeks was just charged the full amount! I contacted customer service and they refused to help me citing that they don't give refunds even when the error is on their side. This company has terrible customer service and doesn't truly care about what they're pushing. Use one of the MANY other options out there and I'm sure you'll be very pleased.
Exactly the same criminal behaviour happened to me. I subscribed to a trial, canceled as it was not for me, well in advance of the trial ending, and the f-ckers charged me. Now I am in a fight with them to get a refund and they are hiding behind their 3rd party billing crap.Edit, Mar.16.22 Note their reply to my review and most others the past few months. What rot. Contacting their supposed support does nothing. It is their so called subscription itself that is the criminal issue. You sign up for their 'trial' and you can't opt out of it. Don't read their BS reply as anything but exactly that. Criminals all of them.
This company are a bunch of scam artists. I signed up for a free trial back in April 2020, found the app useless for my lifestyle, and thought I had cancelled. Just recently discovered that I've been paying 24e a month for a service I don't use. It has accumulated the cost of almost 500e.They never once sent out a monthly emailing stating I was going to be charged again. Also their bank account name is P0401AU so nothing about the payments coming out of my account indicated it was going to this company so I had no clue. The customer service has been less than helpful, only sending back automated responses. This company is without morals and are snubbing people right from under their noses. I couldn't recommend more to STAY AWAY from this company.
Poor customer service, I’ve seen a lot of poor reviews regarding cancellations and renewals and I wish I checked these sooner, as the exact same thing has happened as the other 20 odd reviews have clearly stated. I rarely write negative reviews, but it seems to me like it is a stingy company. Swallowing such a hefty cost now 👎🏼👎🏼
