Review Time
I actually sent an email on how to leave a review. Chicory sent an email with a link and instructions. However, the link was BS, so I have found no way to leave a review on their site as an actual purchaser. Do Not Believe Their Onsite Reviews. Chicory furniture is the biggest piece of SH*T furniture. Do not waste your money. A Frat House would not even think their furniture was “ok”. It is junk.
I have been waiting for the cover to my sofa since July 16th, when five of six boxes were delivered to my house. I have tracked the cover to the fed ex hub 30 minutes from my house. It can’t be delivered because it doesn’t have a recipient. Chicory/Anabei has to contact fed ex to tell them where to send it. They refuse to do so. There is no live customer service person to talk to. I can email or leave a voicemail message and it takes days for them to come back with a response that is less than helpful.
This company is straight-up fraudulent. They have also scrubbed the internet of any bad publicity and will block any dissenting voice on their facebook page. TrustPilot is the only hope! Stay far away from this company. The customer service is non-existent, and I believe their product is drop-shipped junk furniture. I 100% recommend that you choose other furniture.
We purchased Teak collection sofas, 3 seater and 2 seater, along with 2 ottomans. They look great, but are not comfortable - much more firm than we anticipated. The biggest problem however is the cushions slide all over. There is no mechanism to secure them to the frame, so they constantly slide out from underneath while sitting on them. Our guests always comment on it. We reached out to customer service, presuming they forgot to send us parts, which they did not. They implied their design team would start working on a fix, but 5 months later found out they both were not and did not believe it was a problem. We then tried to return the couches, but despite the website advertising in multiple locations that we could trial them for 1yr with no stress and get a "full return" with "free shipping", the fine print says they charge a 25% "environmental fee" (which they financially benefit from). They have since changed the wording on this to be less confusing, but they won't honor that for me. For my $12k order that would be $3k wasted if we returned them. Horrible product and customer service and would never consider purchasing anything from them again.
Do not buy from here! This company is a huge scam. The furniture looks nice for about a week and then it starts to fade. The wood is NOT teak. It has a thin veneer on the outside and is full of some kind of spongy wood on the inside. Termites LOVE it. When we tried to return as we realized it was all fake the customer service was terrible. We spent about 10k on our couch including shipping and delivery (which was a mess in itself) and the only solution customer service had was that we could return it and they would keep about 2/3 of our money. The "custom" covers were also impossible to use. They are not custom, its literally a different square for each seat and takes about 15 minutes and two people to take them on and off.
Purchased 6 modular pieces which arrived with cracked seat frames in 6 of them. Refused to accept shipment upon inspection at truck offloading and instructed driver to return items to place of origin. Requested a refund from Chicory and got the run around. They finally offered a refund credit less an environmental surcharge that they said was required, implying it was beyond their control. Total BS. Made a claim with VISA to contest the environmental charge, and after submitting photos and an analysis of the fine print, VISA honored the claim and restored the withheld sham "environmental fee". Chicory sells crap outside furniture. BUYER BEWARE!!!
For $3500 for a love seat and ottoman and for the long 'lead' time while they make it "custom", I expected high-quality furniture. The frame is fine. The cushions are tragic. We did not get white glove service, but it wouldn't have mattered. The back and side cushion covers, we had to stuff with the provided insert of loose shredded foam making them lumpy and ugly. The covers for the seat cushions pucker and the seams don't line up. All the covers were deeply creased and wonky. There are no fastening/ties for the ottoman cushion so the first breeze that comes up will find it flying off. World Market off-the-floor would be better than this, far less expensive and faster delivery. We are GUTTED that we paid this much and got what we got. Too big of a hassle to disassemble and too expensive to send back. Horrible experience.
Update: the furniture does not hold up to outdoor weather. Within a few weeks, it was streaking and dripping stain or oil on my deck, and generally looked terrible. They sent someone to "fix" it, and he cleaned and re-oiled the furniture and it looked nice for less than a week. It should NOT be considered outdoor furniture. The furniture is nice so far. The chairs are cushy, feel sturdy, and look nice. If I were to buy new furniture tomorrow, I would probably look at a few other places, but Chicory would definitely be on my short list.I live in Southern California and we haven't had any inclement weather yet to be able to say how they hold up it in. The one missing star is due to delivery/assembly issues and their fake "sale". Chicory offers "White glove" delivery where they assemble the furniture and remove the packaging. When my furniture first arrived, it was assembled incorrectly and the team said there were missing pieces. After a few weeks of chasing that around, they sent new parts and a new team to assemble. They were friendly through that process, but when I first ordered I got an email from someone who said she'd be my direct contact, but the actual person responding to me changed quite frequently. I would email Nina and get a response from Balthazar. I don't care that much, but it's odd to make a point of having a personal contact if there's not really a personal contact. It's like the impression of good customer service. As it turned out, I think all the pieces were there the first time, but they'd given the team incorrect instructions. They also sent a couple of extra pieces, including a cushion with no cover, so it's kind of just taking up space because it definitely can't be used outside without a cover. Neither team had actual assembly instructions (or so they said), so they were working of pictures and guessing. Total time from when I ordered to when my furniture was done being assembled was 10+ weeks, which was about double what I expected. The second team also didn't clear packaging, which is not a huge deal, but it does detract from the luxe experience Chicory is selling. The website constantly has a ticker counting down to the end of their current "sale," but as soon as one ends, another one with the exact same terms but a different name starts. Basically, nothing is ever on sale, because the "sale" is always active, and I assume prices are inflated to reflect that.
