Contiki was worst of them all.
Travelling with contiki was a disaster. The information provided by the sales person was not accurate, the trip started with misguidance to meeting point.
Half way through the journey the group and coordinator i was travelling with appeared to be racist.
I was left behind on the second leg of the journey where i had to look for personal accomodations and others costs that ended up costing me more than 2000 euros due to direct inaction of contiki and staff.
When i raised the complaint with the team, they simply rejected all claims and left me worst off.
I have done 3 Contiki so far each trips were unique and different. I made great friends. The reason I am giving 3 stars is that Contiki does not give a lot importance to individual experience of the trip.. for example in my trip group there were 53 people which is a lot and I felt your individual experience is at stake when there are so many people. Also, it was so hard for our trip manager to organise things as well,
If you left a 3 star review I find that ridiculous. Anyways I just got back home from my 23 day euro trail contiki and I have honestly had the best trip I’ve had in my life there. And met so much new people which has made my life so much better. I had such a great trip manager her name is Maddy and awesome bus driver named Bart. I absolutely loved everything contiki had to offer and you’ll 1000% see me booking one again. AND I WILL WALK 500 MILES!!!! 🫶
My experience with Contiki on the Ultimate Philippines Island Hopping tour was extremely disappointing and far below what was advertised.Accommodation standards were poor throughout. One room had visible mould on the headboard, which raised hygiene concerns, and at another stop my room was directly above a live music venue. Loud music continued late into the evening, making it very difficult to sleep. This was never disclosed in advance and had a real impact on the trip.Safety was a serious issue. Driving standards throughout the tour were consistently poor, with drivers frequently overtaking in the opposite lane, including on blind corners, and using the horn aggressively to force pedestrians out of the way. This behaviour felt unsafe and caused me to feel physically sick during transfers.Organisation and communication were also very poor. Transfers involved long waits with little explanation, and one journey to Boracay took around 13 hours on Christmas Day despite being presented as a much shorter transfer. Information was unclear or missing at key points.Most disappointing of all was how Contiki handled complaints. I raised concerns early on using the contact details they provided, but was ignored for weeks. Even now, I have still not received a proper final response or any meaningful resolution. The lack of communication and accountability has been extremely frustrating.Sadly, this trip did not meet the standard promised, and the poor handling of accommodation, safety, and complaints has completely undermined my confidence in the company. I would think very carefully before booking.
Just finished my first Contiki tour! Would 100% recommend to people who want to experience travel but aren’t sure where to start, everything is super easy to navigate and the people you meet, places you see and the experience you get is absolutely priceless! Book that Contiki trip that you’re on the fence about, you wont regret it !!
First I went on a Greece contiki and it was okay but not worth the money. Thought it may be that I was alone and home sick but nope. I’ve booked a trip for Thailand and when wanting to add my 2 friends the trip has completely changed and I’ve been it won’t be updated and can’t be made the same as my friends without an additional charge. WTF contiki !
I tried my first Contiki tour this year and I couldn’t thank Contiki more for the amazing experience. To begin with, our host was super kind, always willing to help. Accommodations, transport and all other included things were all reasonable and great. Meet a lot of cool and nice people in the group I was travelling with. From this experience, I look forward to and am more than happy to do another and possibly even more Contiki tours in the future. I strongly recommend Contiki to anyone looking for group organized trips for young adults.
