On 23/05/2025 I accepted an offer through Gener8 to receive a one off purchase of a standard Degusta box plus a free box. This offer was not advertised as dependent upon future purchases nor subscription, nor did it state as such when I clicked through to Degusta. After signing up for an account (not a subscription) I placed my order and scoured the site for details of subscription, there was none, only invitation to subscribe.Upon receipt of the boxes, 30/05/2025, I informed Degusta of a damaged product, my thoughts as to the lack of value and further checked the account part of the site, finding no details of a subscription I cancelled the account.Today 13/06/2025 I see that another £14.99 was taken from my bank on 11/06/2025.After contacting their customer service they state that I signed up through a standard process which includes a subscription, I did not, they have completely ignored my request of a refund. They also state that cancellations are only accepted before the 22nd of the month, bearing in mind my purchase was on the 23rd.I am extremely upset, I am disabled and have to budget wisely with my money. I certainly cannot afford to write off this payment. I will now have to contact my bank to request assistance.I will also contact my disability and age support to request assistance on protecting vulnerable people from being duped like this in the future.
Overall I enjoy my Degustabox each month but there are things that bug me -- Last 3 months I’ve had no notification my box has shipped or tracking info, in fact I get the email after I’ve received the box!- Delivery company never follow the instruction on where to leave the box, twice resulting in coming home to a soaked boxes and spoiled goods inside- Fed up that for some reason Cheez-It’s have made repeated appearances over last 6 months (we don’t like them!)- Plus membership supposed to get you priority customer services, it doesn’t. Still wait average 10+ days for a response to emails (no different to when I wasn’t a ‘plus’ member) - No telephone number you can ring for issuesWhen customer service do finally respond it’s always helpful so no complaints there but I shouldn’t have to wait 10+ working days for that response! Box is reasonably priced and I love the advent calendar. When you have companies like Hello Yummy doing the same thing and quicker at responding, etc, Degustabox you have got to up your game!
I tried the Degusta Box originally with a money off coupon. The box arrived and I gave over half to my daughter, as I'm a semi veggie red meat or things like that actually hate me, honestly :-(. There were quite a few things like beef flavoured or meat cubes though so gave my daughter them for the family. I thought I'd cancelled the next box but it seems I was too late as it arrived so I thought I'd accept it and see what was in it. I hate to sound like a cliche but I was SO impressed with this one. I gave my daughter the Mr Porky scratchings, which I definitely wouldn't eat and some cheese biscuits which were actually in the previous box and I hadn't opened, really because I wanted everything else and felt mean not giving her anything. There was a whole pile of goodies. Three different flavoured sharing Kit Kats, Sour cream and onion (I think onion) biscuits, Teapigs tea, small jar of cocoa nibbles amongst many other things. I like the boxes but can't really buy them every month so emailed them to see if I could change the delivery date for the next box till July. I had an automated email back saying it was being dealt with, hmm I thought when? A day of so later, I don't check my hotmail daily, I had a reply. Yes that would be fine my next box will be arriving in July. Now I'm looking forward to receiving it and hoping most will be for me and not my daughter ha ha. I think its well worth it especially now I know I can have one every so often so a real treat :-)
In my opinion the Degusta Boxes are very good value and well worth the subscription price, for example the products in the April box sell for a total of £32.98 so a massive saving of nearly £18.00! I have really enjoyed trying new products or ones I would not have usually chosen; also like the money saving coupons and recipe suggestions that are included in the box.
I signed up with a promo code to receive a vegetable chopper with my first order, the box has arrived with no chopper and no mention of whether this arrives separately. I've tried contacting them but haven't heard anything back yet. Perhaps it was just a ploy to get people to sign up for monthly subscriptions with false promise. Personally, I think it seems like a great way to generate lots of negative reviews.
Signed up to a box with a promotion to get a free veg chopper which didn't come. Most of the box was chocolate based which there marketing suggests it should be cooking ingredients. But it was kitkat bars, chocolate spread, chocolate chip pancakes, the biggest item was decaf teabags which are meant to be £11.90 for 40 (who even pays that much for tea bags lol)You can tell most of it is promo stuff they would get for cheap or free, as the rubicon drinks I recently got free in my hello fresh box and allot of the products are new to the market
I loved the whole experience, exciting opening box to see what’s inside and love all the stuff that was in it! Especially pleased with big 50 box of tea pigs decaf English breakfast tea bags which sell for £11.90, almost the price you pay for the whole box, there was loads more great stuff in there as well! Highly recommend!
