They are not transparent about fees. They charged an extra $100 for using my own insurance, the reason to use your own insurance is to save money. I returned the car early because it was vibrating and it didn't feel safe to drive. Of course they refused to issue a partial refund. I STRONGLY ADVISE TO NOT RENT FROM THEM.
Economy rental......what a joke. I had a reservation. My flight was delayed 2 times. I made sure to call economy and communicate that I was running late. They assured me that my car would be held for 6 hours from the pick up time. I get the shuttle from the airport in Orlando. 30 min to the rental place. I go in and expect it to go smoothly. Yeah right!.... there were no cars left!!! I was so frustrated. I had a reservation and was promised the car. I had my booked hotel 30 min away. I had to take a lyft to get there. Meanwhile the rep at economy made sure to tell me they don't reimburse for lyft or Uber rides. Unbelievable!!!
It is a SCAM OF A company. DO NOT GO THRU ECONOMY!!

I find your website not user friendly.Struggling to make a booking at first because the amount that was originally quoted was not the same as the quote that you sent to my email later one , reminding me that I have not make a payment yet.I decided not to take the GPS any more and again another amount was sent to my phone for authentic approval on my banking app.According to you my booking would have been sent to my email address but as up till now I havent received anything ,except a request to make a payment for the firts quote with a GPS. Although the payment reflect on my banking app I am not sure if I have any proof of payment .The request number was given on the booking but it did not allow me to print it.Now I can not find the specific request number on your system .Instead it wants me to do a new booking.
I prepaid for a rental car connected to my flight. The flight was canceled due to the snow storm. I asked for a refund and was told prepaid reservation was not eligible. They would only give me a partial, not even half, refund which they claimed was a courtesy.
100% READ THIS. THIS IS NOT THE US ECONOMY RENTAL CAR WITH THE GREEN SIGN. THIS IS THE ECONOMY RENTAL CAR FROM COSTA RICA WITH THE RED SIGN WHICH IS A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS THAT TRY TO GET YOU THROUGH CROOK OR THROUGH HOOK TO BUY THEIR EXTRA INSURANCE. THE EXTRA INSURANCE IS REQUIRED IN COSTA RICA AND YOU HAVE IT ON YOUR CREDIT CARD. WHEN I BOOKED THEM THROUGH BOOKING.COM, I DIDN’T NOTICE THAT THIS WAS THE COSTA RICA COMPANY AND THEN THEY TRIED SCAMMY STUFF AGAIN. I SAID NO TO ALL THE INSURANCE BECAUSE I HAD IT ON MY CREDIT CARD AND THEN THE GUY LIED TO ME OUTRIGHT AND TOLD ME IT WAS 187$ FOR SUNPASS TOLL ROAD FEES FOR THE WEEK AND WHATEVER I DIDN’T USE WOULD GET DROPPED OFF I DIDN’T GET A CHANCE TO READ THE INVOICE OR THE DOCUMENTS. I JUST WAS TOLD SIGN SIGN SIGN AND AT THE END IT WASN’T FOR THE SUNPASS, IT WAS FOR THE EXTRA INSURANCE THAT I HAD KEPT SAYING I DIDN’T WANT AND HE KNEW I DIDN’T NEED BECAUSE I HAD BOOKED WITH MY CREDIT CARD.GREEN MEANS GO. THAT IS THE US COMPANY WITH THE GREEN SIGNRED MEANS STOP THAT IS THE COSTA RICA COMPANY WITH THE RED SIGNONE IS LEGITIMATE ONE IS A SCAMMER. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AT ORLANDO AIRPORT
Expedia blatantly advertised unlimited miles, yet when I arrived, I was slapped with a 100-mile limit just because I’m local. This was misleading and feels like a bait-and-switch. I wasted nearly $100 on a booking I couldn’t even use. Expedia and this rental company need to stop hiding behind fine print and be upfront with their paying customers. I’m extremely disappointed and won’t trust their “unlimited” claims again.
Having a toll charge issue, I cannot get a response from management. Called CALL CENTER twice, still waiting on response. Was misinformed by sales rep at Orlando rental site, said I COULD pay cash, ( I had my ILLINOIS toll pass with, he said I couldn’t use) also charged a spur of the moment $20 toll deposit. Went through (2). .85 cent tolls, NOT manned, had cash to pay, I’m being charged $20 ADMINSTRATIVE fee for that. Feeling penalized. Not much, but done to EVERY rental, that’s big $$$$$.
DO NOT RENT from Economy Rent a Car aka: America Car Rental in Los Cabos!!!! Staff is super slow to check you out and they force you to buy an insurance policy even when you tell them you bought online on Expedia. They say that is only collision and does not cover comprehensive and theft, not true. I read over my policy, it did cover everything and I told the lady. She kept stating only covers collision and does not cover the other. Asked if I declined to buy this, she said I couldn’t rent the car so I was forced to buy it. Scammers!!! Also car was not what I expected and they made me put a $3000 deposit on a credit card which I did get back when I returned the car.
SCAM!!!!Beware of this place, originally my rental was priced at $143.00. Upon checking in at the front desk there was an additional $150.00 added for tolls. When it came to the insurance, I stated I was going to use my insurance policy (NJ) due to the fact I have full coverage. Upon doing so, the customer service rep (btw who was extremely rude), stated my full coverage policy didn’t include “Loss of Use” insurance, and stated I should contact my insurance provider to see if they can add that specific insurance. I then contacted my insurance company who I placed on speaker, advised the Economy Rent a Car service rep, the insurance did not apply or exist in the state of NJ, and that it is included in the FULL COVERAGE policy I have. The service rep then stated in order to rent the vehicle, it would be an additional $350.00 dollars, which is the cost of their insurance plan. So the grand total would have exceeded close to $650.00 dollars, and just for reference when I booked the rental car, it was $143.00 dollars through Expedia. I then questioned the customer service rep stating, “What do you do when you have renters specifically possessing a NJ license and NJ Insurance Policy”. The customer service rep replied, “Then they would have to pay the insurance fee”…… So to anyone who sees this, especially if your visiting from New Jersey or any other state that doesn’t have “Loss of Use” coverage specifically listed, even though you have Full Coverage, you while be forced to pay the additional $250.00-350.00 dollar insurance fee. Again, they hook and reel you in with the initial price/cost, due to its affordability which is designed to make you feel and think you have an amazing deal. However, you’ll be completely disappointed when you arrive at the front desk, and they try to SHAFT YOU WITH NO VASELINE with the additional costs, leaving you standing there confused cause they just hit you over the head with all the secret add ons. After all that was said and done, I asked the service rep I wanted to cancel the rental, to which she stated I had to contact Expedia to cancel it. I contacted Expedia who stated due to the circumstances, they were not able to cancel it on their end, and transferred me back to Economy. I went back and forth approximately 3 times, just to find out that since we didn’t pre-pay for the vehicle there was no charge for cancellation, but the customer service rep at the desk was too preoccupied playing on her I Phone, to tell us. She also didn’t have a care in the world about helping the customers. BTW, they close at 10pm, so if you have a late arriving flight, you might want to rent from an another company specifically located within the airport, so you don’t get stranded without a vehicle at night. Also, you will not be notified they close at 10pm, if you book with a 3rd party vendor aka Expedia, Priceline, Kayak, GOVX etc.The experience was so bad, I decided to pay a little extra, and book a rental vehicle with a big box company instead just to avoid the headache.Stay away, and don’t get scammed, don’t waste your time, energy, and money, and just pay a tad bit more with a major company like Budget, Hertz, Avis, etc…..which are all located within the MIA car rental station connected to the airport, and to which I had previously had great experiences with, with a streamlined, no nonsense, and surprise costs. This company really needs to revamp its policies, and to retrain its customer service representatives. All in all this place is complete GARBAGE, so again I know I said it a million times but STAY AWAY!!!!! Don’t let the positive reviews fool you cause they are probably fake, because it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that you’re being screwed. All they want to do is upsell you, and they probably call you an idiot because you fell for their scheme. I would give this place - Negative stars if I could, 1 star in my opinion was way too generous.Last but not least, before you decide to rent or while your walking into the office, go listen to Ice Cube’s song “NO VASELINE” so you have an idea what your about to get yourself into.
