This company Xylem Tree Service, contractors for Entergy, trims trees in my area of Springhill, LA. They showed up unannounced, with no notice whatsoever, and parked in my driveway, completely blocking it. They started hacking at my 80-year-old live oaks, cutting limbs beyond the 15-foot easements and butchering the trees. Then they left, leaving the limbs everywhere, after I asked why they were cutting past the 15 feet. That was last week. They showed back up this week, apparently to finish cutting for firewood. Once again, they completely blocked the driveway. Then they had to move to claim their next victims. They drove in my yard, rutting it up, driving over the waterline, and over the fairly new field lines for the septic system. When I confronted them about it, they packed up and left, still leaving all the limbs. They should have been in the road, not my front yard.I don't care what permits or equipment you need to do the job, but you shouldn't be tearing up people's property. 10 out of 10, I do not recommend, UNLESS YOU NEED FIREWOOD!
God awful. They have a monopoly,so there's zero effort to anything resembling customer service. Our initial deposit was waived due to us getting a letter of good standing from our previous utility provider and then we'd be billed for it. They'd "fix" the problem 3-4 times and we'd again be billed for it. The CSRs or customer service agents or whatever apparently couldn't communicate directly with their billing department. Wild, silly, and pathetic bureaucratic bs. They take over an hour to examine why whole blocks of people have no power. Ever increasing rates. Difficult to speak with a human after hours.
Energy showed up today to "pull maintenance" on a power poll. With no notice or a knock on the door they simply parked in my driveway cut power 4 houses. When I asked about what was going on and how long, I got nothing but rude attitude. When I asked to speak to the job supervisor, I was told there was none. What B.S.
UPDATE February 2025I am updating today to mention that the issue with the employee was never resolved. I never received any contact from his manager like Entergy claimed would happen. Additionally, today, an Entergy employee came to my home and nobody else's on the street claiming they were "conducting a test" on our meter. By testing it, they cut off the power for a short period of time without any notice or warning. We have medical needs that require electricity and for them to do this for absolutely no reason is absolute bull. In all the years I lived at my house, this was NEVER done. Additionally, this was done exclusively to my home and no one else's on my street. I'm wondering if this is retaliatory behavior because it sure seems that way? I'm keeping everything noted and documented should I need to take legal action at this point.-------------ORIGINAL REVIEW---------------On November 5, 2024, roughly around 11:20-11:30am, Entergy employee Johnson in truck #10027 came to my house. I was in the restroom at the time and didn't open the door immediately. Once I opened the door I saw him by my meter and I immediately asked him what he was doing. He immediately started questioning me about "Didn't you see me knocking on your door?" (in reference to my security cameras) and having a snarky attitude. I told him we had opted out of the new meters YEARS ago when they were first being introduced. Which we did.He began speaking to me in a nasty condescending tone talking about no I didn't because he'd have a paper and essentially calling me a liar. I told him everything was online at that point and I had even received a confirmation paper in the mail about being opted out of the new meters, again, years ago when these were brand new. He called me a liar and said if I had one show it to him and he would apologize but I couldn't because it's not true.He then started threatening to put the new meter in and said what would I do about it. That because he doesn't have the paper he was going to put it in and that was my problem, not his. I started recording him and told him don't change my meter or I will take legal action because I had already opted out. He said he didn't care that that was Entergy's problem, not his. That it wouldn't affect him either way. He continued to talk in a nasty condescending tone being argumentative. At one point he offered to get the paper, but was essentially taunting me about giving it to me saying I needed to ASK for it. Totally talking down to me like I was at his mercy to NOT get the meter replaced and it was ALL HIS DECISION at that point. He seemed to enjoy talking down to a female. I'm not sure if it's because of my skin tone or because I am female, or both, but the way he behaved was NOT professional in the least bit. I felt threatened and uncomfortable on my own property because of him.Eventually, he did get the paper for me to opt out of, while continuing to talk down to me. I filled it out and gave it back as he stood at his truck with his arms folded and staring me down the whole time in a threatening (feeling) tone. He said I needed to fill out the top part and added that he normally does it himself but I had to do it on my own. He continued being degrading with his words and tone as he got in his truck and sat there watching my house before eventually leaving. If this man represents Entergy then clearly I know I cannot feel safe with their employees. I have since submitted a report to Entergy and am fully prepared to go to the news and social media if Entergy doesn't take action on this employee. I also don't trust that he will actually put it into the system and may use my personal information however he chooses simply based on his behavior. So if anything happens, I fully blame Entergy and am documenting everything should I need it in the future.
For almost a month, because my dad passed away and his name was on 4 of our 7 energy bills for work, I've been forced by energy to do a name change and get new permits from Baton Rouge permit office. Also, because of being required to change the name on 4 of the accounts,NOTE WITH ALL ACCOUNTS BILLS BEING PAID INFULL EACH MONTH, I'm also subject to having the power turned off for those 4 b buildings and has been to 2 of them EVEN WITH CUT OFF DEADLINE EXTENSIONS, BEFORE THE EXTENSION DATE. To make things even worse, the requirements from entergy change depending on who I tolk to each time. NOTE there was a mistake made by the BR permit office and it was corrected 2 weeks ago and today again as entergy said they received to corrected permits on 12/19/24 and today they don't have them again. So BR permit department helped my AGAIN TO CONFIRM CORRECTIONS AND RESEND THE PERMITS. NOTE 1 building has been without power for 5 days now before the deadline cut off date and I'm told that it want or can't be turned on without the permits, which have been sent to them at least 4 times now. Entergy and AT&T are the worst companies I've ever had to deal with and it's hard to say who the worst.
We sold our business after having service with Entergy for over 30 years. The our hazing company rented our building for 6 months in which time they switched the power to their company, when the moved back to Canada we requested the electricity be reconnected on our name as we owned the building, to do this they must have a $3000 deposit. We have no choice but to use Entergy. The building is for sale and we need service just until the building sells. I can only get service again after having been a customer for over 30 years by paying the outrageous deposit.
They are definitely not fantastic by any means, but I have dealt with a number of much worse electric companies in other places that I’ve lived. For being in New Orleans, I thought the power would go out much more frequently than it has over the past year that I’ve been using Entergy for my electric needs. My biggest qualm with Entergy Is that there are really expensive surcharges during peak times, such as when it’s very hot or cold and you need to use your central air most. I think that their pay system is really easy to use, and they’ve always been fairly receptive which I’ve appreciated.
This electric company is the worse. More than a week with electricity, we have a cable down in our front yard and nothing has been done yet. I do understand about what just happened but we are priority with a person with diabetes and heart problem.
