Unacceptable customer service experience. I used to be a passionate member of the car club. The availability of vehicles nearby was consistently good, and overall the system worked well for me. However, the Damage Control department changed everything. I was accused of causing damage to the tyres and charged around £250 for replacements. I explained that I believed it was simply wear and tear, and I wouldn't have reported it during my pre-hire check. The rims were also scuffed, making it difficult to identify the issue. When I reported the scuffed rims later, they claimed it was just wear and tear! I initially accepted the first two charges as part of the experience and paid the costs. Despite disputing their claims about the damage, as the trips during which it allegedly occurred were short and simple, they refused to listen. They continuously ignored my inquiries and requests for clarification on how I supposedly caused the damage and charged me anyway. Having been a loyal customer for many years, the way I was treated over two tyres has been the most disappointing aspect for me. Fortunately, they no longer have a monopoly in my area; a new car scheme has launched, allowing me to finally move on from this service.
I have applied three times for a car rental service and have been rejected each time without any clear reason. Despite having 11 years of no claims, I have 3 points on my license that will expire in April. I can rent a car through the company, yet I cannot join the club due to unspecified reasons. A representative informed me that I did not meet their underwriting requirements but could not provide any specific details. What does that even mean? Additionally, the representative's grammar was incorrect, yet I'm the one facing issues with renting a car.
The application process for the Car Club is extremely frustrating. Sometimes they reject you at the initial stage without any explanation. If you manage to get past that, they require you to visit a local rental branch to provide proof of address (like bills or bank statements), which other companies typically handle online. The issue is that the staff at the branch often lack the knowledge to manage the application process properly, as the rental service operates separately from the Car Club. I had to make three visits just to have my application processed.
Applying to the Car Club is a nightmare. Sometimes they reject you at the first stage with no reason. If you manage to pass that, they require you to go physically into an Enteprise Rent-a-car branch just to show them some proofs of address (e.g. bills, bank statements, etc.), which other companies do all the time remotely. The problem though is that the personnel at the local branch doesn't know how to handle the application process, since Enterprise Rent-a-car is separate from the Car Club: I had to return there 3 times to get my application processed.
They are absolute scammers. After proving that I did not damage the card after they wanted proof, they have now come back to me a week later with a brand new claim because I proved them wrong about the first one - trying to charge me over something they know isn't me. I have called customer service 4 times today with absolutely 0 help. They said I need to get back to them within 48 hours but ignore me for a week completely and come back with a response about a made up claim from a photo that is taken way after my trip and inspection. Just trying to make money out of everyone!!! -100/10
Richardson road NEWCASTLE bay always blocked and always managed to park in space behind or further down, now all of a sudden 2 parking charge fines for doing this. Do enterprise want to help - NO. Have sent pics of the incident and car in their bay but they don’t want to know they more than happy to pay 2 fines and 2 £30 admin fees for their car been left parked in the bay behind their bay. Also this is a PARTNERSHIP with Newcastle council. Where is the common sense from both parties. Also don’t bother calling the call centre as you bay get someone like BRENDA. What a mouth on her. Had zero skill in service and won’t want to help if you don’t know your enterprise number (as we all do!!!) pathetic awful company will be cancelling membership I’ve spent around £600 on hires in last few months and my custom dosent count for any resolution
The last 3 times I have rented a car from Car Club they have accused me of damaging the wheel of the car. Each time they have threatened to take £1,000 from my account. The email I received today provided a picture of the wheel 8 days AFTER I rented the car. The cars often have issues when you rent them, and the app is buggy. Avoid this company. UPDATE: As requested, I emailed the customer service team. It's been 3 working days and I have heard nothing back. I have also been locked out of my account. It has been over a week since I appealed the £1,000 charge by email, and I have not received a reply to my appeal either.
Takes ages if you email them for a reply and they have withdrawn a number of car from my areaGlad that I don't pay a high membership feeI have to say that the proper Enterprise car hire is the complete opposite, wonderful helpful staffHow ironic a car club makes you want to buy a car !
The service from Enterprise Car Club is awful. I use an EV close to my home regularly, I always leave it on charge as required. The last two times I have left the car I have received an email three hours later telling me I have not put the car on charge and I will be charged £30 for someone to come out and put the car on charge. I live less than five minutes away if there is a problem call me.When I called to tell them I did leave the car charging and it clearly said it was charging, they said it was an error and I wouldn’t be charged. On Friday, I could see a £30 charge on my bank account, I called again, they said the charge would be reversed, it wasn’t.I called again on Saturday, again I was told the charge would be refunded. I called again on my day and I was told the charge would be refunded, and someone would contact me. That hasn’t happen. Today the £30 charge has gone through and still no-one has called me.I will call again today.I never had any problem when CoWheels ran Car Club in Norwich. I have used Car Club since it first launched, it is so useful when you don’t own a car.
Ive been trying to apply to Car club for MONTHS now, as I just moved to the UK and need vehicle access for many daily things. They continually deny my appliations, once for an "expired" lisence, which, they just read wrong and my livence is fully active, and 2 for "not enough public records linking me to my address". I have registered to vote, I have bills for months now in my name at my address, I have my tenancy agreement and rent payments, and they refuse to take any of this as proof. Every time I call, they say there is nothing they can do and to just "try again" or to call the credit company that does the checks. When I called the credit company, they told me that Enterprise sets the conditions, not them. They were far more helpful than Enterprise. 0 customer service support and 0 flexibility on allowing people to get memberships in any sort of way that is easy. I think I'll just be taking my business elsewhere to Co Wheels instead.
