Do not recommend ExpressVPN for for Linux users! Tested it on 3 different Linux computers with modern hardware, Mint 22.2 Mint 22.3 and Debian.
Connection problems, it takes more than 5 minutes to connect and than disconnects and reconnects multiple times afterwords.. Nothing helps: Complete uninstall and reinstall of the software, same problem, changing protocols, no effect, changing servers, no effect, etc. On meany servers you are ask if you are not a robot or your IP is blocked. On meany servers YouTube live streaming is blocked, etc. I burnt with 2 years subscription, open a ticket, no help and marked it as solved. Please avoid ExpressVpn for Linux.

My wife and I traveled to Greece for 3 months for her to have surgeries. I needed to still work, and where I worked wouldn't allow an IP originating from Greece. Also, my live stream TV (sling) wouldn't work. ExpressVPN solved both problems. I have it working on my laptop and cell phone. It has been a huge resource for me during this time.

I paid $139.72 for a two-year VPN which they unilaterally cancelled four days later. They refused to restore my account and wouldn't refund my money - they said they couldn't because I didn't have an account any more!
I dealt with bots (complete waste of time) and eventually had email conversations with two humans (also a waste of time). Express VPN are thieves. Don't touch them with a barge pole. Oh, and check out who owns the company if you want another reason to avoid them....

20 July: I get an email from Theodor Colea basically saying, we deleted your account so we can't give you a refund

I'm 100% confident that all those 5-star ratings and reviews for this company are fake and paid reviews!!

After I purchased a subscription and it didn't get connected I tried contacting support via a live chat, In that session I explained to the support agent that the Xpress VPN primary app is blocked in my region and is not usable therefore I have to use openvpon configs instread of using the primary app but I'm getting an error on OpenVpn saying something about some stuff on the server side. The rep, without even reading what I said, replied back, saying please use the primary app!!! DUDDEEE!!
So I had to type whatever I already explained AGAIN!!! and told them I tried a bunch of different locations with openvpn but it's giving an error, not a connection. I copied and pasted the error to the guy, but he was not even able to understand it, just kept saying to use the primary app or use different locations!! I had never seen such useless support in my whole life.
They emailed me and tried to troubleshoot, but useless again!
Had to request a refund and am just waiting on that. Will update on the refund process and how it goes on

English Version
I want to warn the community in Mexico about ExpressVPN's abusive practices. This company is operating outside the Federal Consumer Protection Law (LFPC), making recurring automatic charges without explicit consent and denying refunds, claiming that their private contract stands above national legislation.

My case, documented under ticket numbers #31275250 and #31275819, is clear proof of their refusal to respect consumer rights. ExpressVPN flagrantly violates the LFPC and its recent reforms (2024-2025) regarding digital services:

Violation of Article 76 Bis and proposed 56 Bis: Recent reforms require Explicit Consent. ExpressVPN executed the charge without prior and clear authorization for this specific renewal.

Lack of Prior Notification: The law requires providers to notify customers of an automatic renewal at least 5 calendar days in advance, detailing the amount and date. ExpressVPN omitted this step, executing the charge unexpectedly.

Obstruction of Cancellation: Regulations require that cancellation be as easy as signing up ("one-click"). ExpressVPN uses complex mechanisms to retain money, failing to comply with the Ease of Cancellation dictated by PROFECO.

Opaque Information: The principle of Clear Information is violated by failing to show visibly and transparently that the service would involve mandatory automatic charges without the possibility of a subsequent refund.

Legal Hierarchy: Under Mexican law, the provisions of the LFPC are of public order and are non-waivable. No ExpressVPN adhesion contract can override the right to a refund for uninformed charges according to the 2024-2025 reform.

Despite exhausting internal support channels, the company maintains an evasive stance. I warn other users: for ExpressVPN, their internal policies are worth more than PROFECO and Mexican laws.

I will file a formal complaint through PROFECO's Concilianet and request a chargeback from my banking institution for unauthorized charging and violation of current digital subscription regulations.

Their system never worked on my computer. I tried unsuccessfully to fix the problem with the help of their online assistance. Nothing helped. It came to them wanting me to write code in terminal which was a step too far. I requested, in writing a refund of my subscription. I was shocked to find this hadn’t been done and I have been charged every month for six months. When I tried to get a refund they sent me to their system which constantly reported an error message every time I tried to request one. I created a ticket and explained everything. I got an answer back saying I am ineligible for further refunds. They never gave a refund in the first place so don't know what they mean by further refund. Short story. Don't give them your credit card if anything goes wrong you will regret it.

Outstanding support experience.

Outstanding support experience. I've utilized a VPN service as an expatriate living in the USA. Whenever I require assistance, the responses are quick, clear, and usually resolve my issues right away. For my needs—accessing British content like BBC Player, Sounds, Now, Discovery Plus, and sports—it's absolutely ideal.

Unauthorized email change on my account

My email address was altered on my account without my permission. I'm unsure how this occurred. I've submitted all required information to verify my ownership of the account. It's been four days since I reached out to the support team for assistance, yet I keep getting the same reply that the billing department is addressing my issue and will resolve it shortly.
