Despite a fast-track admission to the nursing home, our mother’s funding was withdrawn at her review

Despite a fast-track admission to the
nursing home, our mother’s funding was
withdrawn at her review 12 months later. The MDT meeting was a shambles, and
the report did not reflect her healthcare needs. In four of the domains there were
differences in the scoring; the nurse assessor’s grading over-riding the Social Worker, SRN and family.
We lodged an appeal and were hoping for Farleydwek to represent us at the appeal
hearing. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time for them to prepare for the hearing but during a telephone conversation with Andrew Farley, it was suggested we book in to speak with a qualified CHC Nurse Assessor. Our telephone conversation with Maq was a lifeline. He had a high degree of expertise in this field and was able to offer practical advice on how best to prepare an evidenced based case. He was also able
to identify areas where the framework had been incorrectly applied.
With this expert knowledge and guidance, we were successful in our appeal and
the original recommendation of the DST was overturned. Our mother was awarded full CHC funding, backdated with payments refunded. This was the best £300 we ever spent!

I would whole-heartedly recommend Farleydwek to anyone seeking CHC guidance and/or support.

Above all honest.

Through out my dealings with Farley Dwek I found them to be efficient and very helpful. But above all their honesty impressed me the most. Never have come across an organisation that would put ethics before profit. For this alone I would highly recommend them.

happy customer
Ruth at Farley Dwek has been a guiding…

Ruth at Farley Dwek has been a guiding light in an incredibly difficult time. Having to navigate the CHC funding system was a bewildering, frustrating and seemingly illogical process. I couldn't understand why my mother's care needs were not being considered extreme enough to qualify when the reality was very different. Even though I considered myself capable of providing evidence/rationale, it was clear that when funding was withdrawn, I needed professional guidance.Ruth and Alex, the amazing assessing nurse, provided me with warm, empathetic and a really proactive approach which was an absolute godsend. It felt like I was finally being listened to and understood. With their expertise and exceedingly professional guidance, my mother secured full funding for her years in her care home (with a short period of time when she was considered as having no primary healthcare need).Ruth was always incredibly empathetic and the advice and guidance I received was always the most rational, knowledgeable and realistic.Ruth is an absolute star and I definitely would not have been able to secure the funding to which my mum was entitled (in my belief) without her expertise, professionalism and good humour (to get me through the difficult processes!)I would highly recommend anyone navigating the system, which is now harder than ever, to discuss their circumstances with Farley Dwek. Fees were explained clearly and absolutely fair for the amount of work and expertise they bring.Thank you so much to Ruth, Alex and the team at Farley Dwek.Sian Teague

Very supportive despite short notice

The team at Farley Dwek were extremely responsive, supporting our CHC assessment process at very short notice in a very professional manner. Lynn Scott was excellent throughout the process and helped us secure the support which we were entitled to.

Reclaiming Unlawful CHC Top Up Fees

Following a meeting with the CHC last year it came to light that my mums care home had charged unlawful top up fees for over 5 years. Jonathan Dwek was recommended to us, and he was excellent. He was realistic and honest and managed our expectations, he was encouraging, empathetic and reassuring, and thanks to his help and support we were able to reclaim the full amount of unlawful top up fees plus interest. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Farley Dwek to anyone who finds themselves in a similar position.

Informed and totally professional advocacy

Farley Dwek were excellent at the meeting we held as part of the CHC application process. Given that the care home had sent over 200 pages of notes the day before they were informed, totally professional and commanding advocates. Whatever the outcome I would certainly recommend them to others.

CHC application

I found the advise provided a clear view of how to best proceed when making a CHC application. The nurse led procedures helped me to understand what was needed to obtain a positive result. Claire, my advocate was generous with her time and clear in her explanations of the issues involved. Obviously, the outcome of any CHC application depends on the strength of the evidence, but the help provided by Claire was fundamental in making the journey much smoother on rhe way to obtaining a positive result.

The firm’s service

The firm’s assistance, support and advice has proved invaluable in assisting our family to advocate for and support our Mother during her funding review case. The administration support was highly efficient and crucially the firm provided us with an expert nurse assessor who guided us skilfully through the process and fully supported us throughout. Our family would strongly recommend Farley Dwek and would definitely use their services again.
