We attended a holiday train event in Blaenavon yesterday, and it was quite underwhelming. We traveled back and forth between closely spaced stations and spent more time stopped than actually moving. The carriages were cold and dim, lacking any festive lights or music. Additionally, we were the last to meet both Mrs. Claus and Santa, making those interactions feel very rushed, with Santa even glancing at his watch as other guests departed. I can only give two stars because our toddler didn't notice and enjoyed her biscuit and gift from Santa. I would strongly suggest looking for alternatives! Overall, it was quite disappointing given the ticket prices.

We had a fantastic time on the Gwili Santa steam train. The staff truly went above and beyond to create a memorable day for everyone. This was our second visit to the Christmas steam train, and I would certainly book again next year. Santa took the time to interact with our boys, making it truly magical for them. The mischievous elf had them laughing, and Mother Christmas gifted them Christmas books. Overall, it was an excellent experience, so thank you to all involved. I highly recommend booking this train ride.
What a delightful experience meeting Santa on the steam train! My three granddaughters were captivated; everything was organized and professional. Santa and Mrs. Claus were wonderful, and the elves added to the magic. We were welcomed by a friendly elf with a talking reindeer, which was enchanting. Santa brought a lovely bear for each child, along with gingerbread men and drinks. After Santa’s visit, Mrs. Claus returned with Christmas books for the kids. Altogether, it was a memorable experience they will cherish for years. This event is a must-see and reasonably priced. Thank you very much!
The Blaenavon Christmas Steam Train was well organized, and my three-year-old grandson enjoyed it. However, from an adult perspective, it felt overpriced for the experience. I chose the last trip of the day expecting illuminated carriages, but they were not lit, leading to a dull experience. The gifts of a bear and a book were well received, as was the gingerbread biscuit and drink. However, the one mince pie for adults felt stingy. Next year, I plan to invest in a light trail experience and visit Santa separately.

We enjoyed a ride on the Flying Scotsman from Grosmont to Pickering for my dad's 75th birthday. It was an incredible experience! The representative met us on the platform, checked us in, and explained the day's itinerary. The scenery was stunning, and being pulled by the Flying Scotsman was a highlight. The lady accompanying us was attentive and enthusiastic, sharing details about Hogsmeade Station from the film along the way. Grosmont station was lovely, with plenty to explore. Parking was a bit tight, but that was expected. Overall, a wonderful experience that we will definitely repeat!
