Upselling Tactics at the Rental Location

We arrived at the rental location with our reservation in hand and waited about 20 minutes in line. The employee informed us that there was no car available in our class, offering an upgrade for an additional fee or a wait of 35 minutes to an hour for a car in our class. We opted to wait, but interestingly, when we handed our paperwork to the car area staff, a car was immediately available! It seemed like a tactic to upsell us at the desk. Renters should be cautious, as your insurance likely covers the rental, and the location employs deceptive practices.

Avoid Renting at This Airport

If you are renting at this airport, don't do it. I rented a van and booked through their website. Initially, the rate seemed reasonable, but I was forced to accept their daily insurance. While traveling just 15 minutes from the rental office, the back glass shattered unexpectedly. Upon returning to the rental location, I was shocked to learn that I had to pay for the entire glass replacement due to an exorbitant deductible that was not communicated at booking. They claimed the insurance only applies to damages exceeding that amount. I attempted to cancel my reservation, but they stated that I could not cancel anything since I had already signed the contract. All the staff were rude, and the situation escalated to yelling at the counter. After a lengthy negotiation with the manager, I was allowed to pay for the glass without an additional hold. This experience soured our vacation. I have rented from this company in the past without issues, but after this experience, I will advise everyone to stay away.

Unprofessional Behavior from Staff

The staff and security personnel approach people in public, taking pictures and videos, and tell them they cannot take pictures or videos while on public streets! Their behavior is even worse, as they swear at individuals, attempt to block cameras, and try to bully the public into leaving the sidewalk. This conduct is absolutely unacceptable!

Unexpected Charges for Upgrades

I booked a full-size SUV through a travel platform, and when I picked it up, I was offered a minivan instead. I thought it was acceptable to have either vehicle, but they charged me extra for the upgrade, which I never requested. I felt completely taken advantage of.

Fraudulent Practices at the Rental Location

I was defrauded by this company. I prepaid my rental in full and clearly stated that I did not want to purchase additional insurance, as I have sufficient coverage. The representative assured me everything was set, yet I later discovered that they sneaked in over $400 in insurance charges. Efforts to resolve the issue have been ignored. I will seek legal remedies and advise others to avoid this company.

$350 Extra added that was not needed

I booked a car on the Fox website for a "Total cost" of about $600 in Orlando, Florida. However, when I got to the counter, about $350 in fees was added even though I did not want them and did not need them and I asked for them to be removed. Fox refused staying the $600 was to get me in there.

Untrustworthy Company

This company is terrible. They charged me excessively for tolls, resulting in a $100 fee for just $8 worth of tolls. Avoid them at all costs. I would rather walk than rent from them again.

If I could give this company 0 stars, I absolutely would. Our experience with Fox Rentals was nothing short of infuriating and downright deceptive. When we arrived to pick up our rental, the gentleman at the counter seemed polite at first—but quickly became intentionally vague about what we were signing and what the additional charges actually were. I’ve rented cars many times and I’m fully aware of the upsells and extra fees they try to slip in, which is exactly why I denied every single add-on when I booked through Expedia.In person, I repeated multiple times that we did NOT want any additional charges. Despite that, the employee brushed it off, claimed we were just signing for “liability,” and never once mentioned that we were actually agreeing to roadside assistance and their overpriced insurance—charges that added up to nearly $350. He rushed us, told us to “just scroll and sign,” and made no effort whatsoever to explain what we were agreeing to.When I contacted customer service, they told me a claim would be filed and I’d receive an email within 24–72 hours. Weeks went by and nothing. I had to chase them down, only to get the same dismissive runaround.This company is dishonest, misleading, and clearly relies on tricking customers into paying for things they explicitly declined. I will NEVER use Fox Rentals again and will absolutely be warning everyone I can to avoid them. Do yourself a favor—save your money, your time, and your sanity, and go with literally any other rental company.

Unfriendly Customer Service, Long waiting time

After a long flight, I came to their office and waited long in the line for my turn. After the contract signing was completed, they told me to wait for a few minutes and somebody will take me to the car.They kept attending to the other customers who came after and it took another 40 minutes before I finally asked them to show me my car so that I can leave.They were not very happy with my protest and as the guy was heading out to show me the car slammed the door behind knowing that I am behind him carrying my luggage. And after showing me the car did not even offer any help to me loading my suitcases. I understand this is beyond their job but a little courtesy to an elder customer would go a long way.

BEWARE..DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

BEWARE..DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I prepaid a car and declined all additional coverage. On the day of the rental I verbally declined additional coverage with the agent at the counter. I initialed, which I thought was to decline the coverage and signed the contract. Upon retuning the car I was I was billed $269 for additional insurance. I disputed the charge with my credit card company but I was told that my initials were requesting insurance. Classic bait and switch. Read the entire contract!! Better still use a honest car rental company.
